1. Here I have added
the photo which I
have edited and
manipulated in
Photoshop to make
it look more vibrant
and professional –
which is what I need
for my contents
page.
I have also cropped it. Above the image I have placed the box with the
information about the subscription offer, it is very important because the
magazine has to have a maximum number of buyers for the next issue to
maximise the profits.

I have inserted the
word “contents”
vertically instead
of horizontally to
make it look even
more interesting
and it breaks the
usual conventions.
At this stage I have added the large “L” which is the initial letter of the
logo/name of the magazine, I have made it so large because it has to
remind the reader which magazine they are looking at and so to give the
magazine even more authority the reader only has to see the first letter of
the name and recognise the colour scheme and font and they already know
it’s the “louder” magazine.
Now the next
stage is inserting
the plain 2 boxes
and adding colour
to them the larger
box is hot pink
and the smaller
box is black – the
house style is still
consistent.
I have added all the contents of the magazine into them – this is rare
because usually magazines only state some of the contents of the magazine
on the contents page which is not good as the reader would like to see the
whole picture of what the magazine consists of all in one place, and I have
all 22 contents headings in the pink box and 18 in the black box. The black
box is a continuation of the pink box. The font is the same which runs
through out the magazine, the colours of the fonts are vibrant and stand out.

2. Now the banner at the top is inserted by copying and pasting
the logo from the front cover individually and by resizing it to
a smaller so that it all fits in perfectly at the top like a
continuous banner stating the logo of the magazine over and
over again. There are 2 rows of 6.5 logos of the magazine –
the last logo had to be cropped from “louder” to “loud” in
order for it to fit on the page but that is acceptable as it is
purely a shorter abbreviation of the full name.
The next stage was adding action to my contents page so
that people know they could also communicate with us
through other means / actions and not only just through
the magazine it self. I have inserted the 5 logo’s of the
social networking sites by searching for the right icons in
Google images and then saving them as a JPED file on
my portable memory stick before using the insert option
from one of the columns below to insert the icons and re-
size them to the suitable format, then later on editing
them so they all correspond with each other.
The actions used to attract the audiences to engage
more into the magazine are to: LIKE us on
Facebook, FOLLOW us on Twitter, SUBSCRIBE to
us on YouTube, FOLLOW us on Instagram, and to
look at out Tumblr blog. The website is also stated
ta the side clearly in a big bold font with the black
colour on white background. The first page number
is seen here with the number 2 shown.
The final stage was inserting 3 of the main contents of the
magazine with a suitable picture which have all been
manipulated several times to achieve a high standard. The first
headline “Cheryl Cole is back! Read more on page 10!” has not
actually got the picture of the celebrity her self on there but
instead a model I chose which is a lookalike of her and I used
Photoshop to achieve a glamorous look. The second is “More
hottest models of the year on page 45!” which actually has a
picture of one of the top models to engage the reader to find
out more. The third is “Biggest concerts and festivals of 2013,
more on pages 17-18!” the image is of a male smoking at a
festival, the model is using a cool laid back pose to encourage
the readers to attend concerts and festivals.

3. The tools I used to create my
contents page:
