IDEI: Sustainable Agricultural Practices About Integrating Poor into Market Systems (IPMAS) IDEI is identifying such gaps that would, with minimum effort, enable a smallholder farmer to access market systems. The project aspires to enhance the negotiating capacities of the farmers in the supply chain. Current Focus on three areas in the following ways:
11. Social Returns on Investment (Environment) With the use of treadle pumps, diesel worth 602.8 Million Litres has been saved and carbon emissions reduced by 2.23 million tCO2 eq. This amounts to USD 482 Million and 15.6 Million respectively. Diesel cost: $0.8/litre Carbon Emission: $7 per ton
12. With the use of drip kits water worth 5.2 Billion Cu Mter has been saved and electricity worth 700 Million kWh. This amounts to USD 5.2 Billion and 10.5 Million respectively Water savings calculated @ $0.001 per ltr Electricity savings calculated @ $0.015 per kWh Social Returns on Investment (Environment)
