With each new tech innovation – whether it’s an
ultra-lightweight laptop or a pair of computerized
“smartglasses” – there’s a rush to have it first.
We call that influence “Tech-Tronic” and it features
elements like translucent materials, geometric
shapes, metallic finishes and functional fabrics. You
might notice it in iridescent colors on a drinkware
piece or non-silver reflective material that blends
natually into a jacket.

This dark trend is a reaction to the artificial
world created by television, social media and
celebrity worship. For some, this new “reality”
has created both a loss of identity and a lost
sense of community.
Discarded isn’t about the liberation of escaping
this gloom so much as the cold reality of
resignation. The pessimistic mood is expressed
through monochromatic color appications,
distressed fabrics and grungy textures.

For some, doing what everyone else is doing just
isn’t an option. As a result, these tastemakers are
alo the ones who influence trends.
These are people who want products that look
and feel more authentic, from an era before big-
box stores and mass-production. The re-imagining
of the past to create something new and modern
is achieved with muted colors like olive, grey and
