11. 1.2.1 HUMAN RESOURCES
Human recourses are a key-factor in developing a K9
program. The foundation of the program are the people
themselves. Managers have to be convinced about the
importance of the program. And even though the dog is
excellent trained, it’s the handler which has to direct and
read the dog.
K9 SECURITY provides human recourses support for dif-
ferent stages in the program as we are experienced in
international areas and are involved in several projects
in the world.
12. 1.2.2 CERTIFICATION
The K9 unit is established
when the program is certi-
fied.
After the people are trained,
examined and evaluated by
K9 SECURITY procedures
will be implemented.
13. 1.2.3 AUDITING AND REPORTING
To keep the standards of the K9 unit high, regularly au-
diting of the procedures is necessary.
The goal is to eliminate all uncertainty for the team and
management.
Regular K9 SECURITY audits, provides the management
with objective documentation for the K9 units. Objec-
tive testing also provides focus points to improve and in-
crease program standards.
14. 1.2.4 QUALITY CONTROL
With the necessary approvals from the local government
the quality control can be done parallel with the auditing
procedures.
This service should be turned into real scenarios as “wet
transitions” and “dry transitions” in the working environ-
ment of the K9’s.
15. 1.2.5 RE-CERTIFICATION
A K9 unit that passed the certification should have a re-
certification exam periodically. Audits and reporting are
not enough.
A well trained K9 team is very versatile and can be de-
ployed in myriad of environments. The teams can be de-
ployed to full range of scenarios ranging from routine
searches to full combat situations.
According to the importance and risk of the mission
re-certification exams should be done.
17. The kennels are an integral part of the dog’s life.
