As the end of NTUST-ISA period of 2012/2013, the accountability report was
prepared to evaluate our performance during one-year period (starting from Fall
Semester 2012 until Spring Semester 2013).
This report will be described in order of:
 Introduction which consists of statement of vision and mission, organization
chart, and activities summary.
 Evaluation Report which describe details of every activities per division.
 Budget & Balance which consists of the financial condition in the beginning
and the end of term.
 Membership Survey Result which describe the summary report of
aspiration from our members for their organization.
 Summary which consists of salutation and general inputs for next term.
a. Statement of Vision and Mission
Vision : “All for ISA, ISA for All”
In this statement of vision, we believe that the ISA can be an open and dynamic
organization, which it will always grow and develop on how we can facilitate and
manage the interests and matters of our members, who come from various type
of background of races, religions, cultures, etc. In which we believe it’s also
become our unique strength of “power in diversity”.
Mission :
 Bring Peace of Mind
As an organization with members are students who currently enrolled in NTUST
as undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students, which main
responsibility are pursuing their academic activities. Based on this situation,
we hope our organization can help and facilitate some of their needs and
problems so our members can be more focus on studying.
 Value to Stakeholder
We hope that ISA can be an organization who can give many value or benefit
through our activities and existences to stakeholders, which consist of our
members, alumnus, and external parties.
 Respect
As an organization whose members are coming from various backgrounds and
diversity, we believe that Respect is one of our ways to maintain our internal
bond, in which it will lead us to keep and to grow the “power of diversity”
strength for the organization.
- Internal
Consolidation between members, through:
o Information sharing and two way communication from media: mailing list,
social media, etc.
o Communal activities, like sports day, welcome party, farewell party, etc.

Maintain long term and mutualism type of relationship with other
organizations, such as: Office of International Affair (OIA) NTUST,
Association of International Affairs (AIA) NTUST, Vietnam Student
Association (VSA) NTUST, International Moslem Student
Association (IMSA) NTUST, Indonesian Economic and Trade Office
(IETO) in Taipei, Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) Taiwan,
Indonesian Overseas Chinese Association (IOCA), etc. which can be
established by conducting such activities, like visitation, participation in
events, joint-events, discussion, cultural performance, etc.
 Fun
We consider that to achieve our goals, in conducting activities we’re not only
needs technical and managerial skills, but also the spirit that comes from
beneath of ourselves. Because we believe that what comes from a delightful
heart and mind will deliver better atmosphere in accomplishment way which
will lead to better result in the end.
And all those vision and missions statements can be illustrated like picture below,
like a house, that the four mission can be the foundations and pillars to support
the vision as the roof, which can we hope that it will be a “comfy” house for all
stakeholders of NTUST-ISA.
b. Organization Chart
Based on those vision and mission statements, on this year of 2012/2013, NTUST-
ISA has the opportunity to make a board of 40 excellent students who have
commitments and interests to help to achieve great value to our stakeholders, as
explained in the chart below:

There are five divisions, who are still in the same from last year’s organization
structure board, which it will deliver the functions in five main areas. Thus the
detail of each divisions, staffs, and responsibilities will be explained in next section
of this accountability report.
This year we deploy 2 vice presidents, as to help the coordination function
between five divisions to be more effective to deliver the activities and programs.
And also with the two treasures, will alleviate the responsibility and increase the
effectiveness in gathering the membership fee.

chart below, in which the details of every activity will be explained more in next
section of this accountability report.

1. Seniors Guidance Fall 2012 and Spring 2013
Details In this event new students coming to welcome party were
divided into several groups according to their department. In
each small group, around one or two seniors were in charge for
sharing their experiences during study in NTUST especially in
their department.

This activity went well and new students can get many
information from seniors.
Weakness:
There was a difficulty in finding seniors from some department
which did not have current Indonesian student. Thus, current
student from other departments which has similar background
(from the same school/faculty) was assigned as substitute.

The module contains a very good material and there were two
small classes.
Weaknesses:
 The students keep on decreasing, because they have other
activities at the moment.
 Three meetings were not enough.
 The place was not convenient enough. Should be in a class

their communication skill by theory, speaker’s experience

influence the audience orally in public.

This event was being held smoothly and finish sooner than the
schedule.
Weaknesses:
The duration length of searching speakers’ candidate is too

Objectives To help NTUST-ISA members by provide books that are
needed.

Place The books are stored at the locker room and we spread out the
available books.

There are 59 books registered in this library. Among them, four
books are come from leasing.
Weaknesses:
 It was not well informed. Information about available books
is published on mailing list, and NTUST-ISA Facebook. Yet
it still not efficient enough for publication.

Objectives To share conference information to NTUST-ISA students via

D. Inputs and Suggestions for Next Term
 Mandarin Class
Participant cash deposit system could be one way to raise the responsibility of
the participants already registered. If they do not fulfill the certain amount of
presence then their cash will become NTUST-ISA fund. As a token of appreciation to
the instructors do not forget to provide them with either souvenir, or certificate.
 Academic Writing
The committee should try to contact the speaker candidate as soon as possible,
suggested 2 months before the event because some of the speakers were quite
busy. The committee contacted Mr. Jeremy Skies and he already agreed to give a
speaking in October 2013
 NTUST-ISA Library
The enthusiasm of members to borrow the books was not high could be due to
many aspects such as the suitability of the books, e-book availability. Thus, the
books especially textbooks could be sold to the new students with friendly price to
reduce the inventory and at the same time to provide cash for NTUST-ISA.

• To help new Indonesian students of NTUST in managing all the requirements
regarding to their arrival in Taiwan.
• To help and facilitate all problems of NTUST-ISA members, subject to household
matters.

Objectives  Giving opportunity to new students and members of
NTUST-ISA to get second hand stuffs in good condition

 Fund-raising for Caring & Household division so we can
support our internal expenses and not only rely on the
organizations fund (10% for ISA, 90% for Caring and
Household Division).

5. Winter Break Fellowship

Objectives To strengthen ISA'ers relationship
Anyway, that program quite well-substituted with WP Spring
2013.
Evaluations maybe this kind of program good after final exam
of Spring finished.
Target NTUST-ISA members that stay in Taiwan during winter holiday
Reasons No right time. Everyone went off campus for their own holiday.
And at that time winter break was too short, suddenly we have
to prepare for picking new students & Welcome Party.
Evaluation This activity is quite well-substituted with Welcome Party
Spring 2013. Maybe this kind of program good after final exam
of Spring semester is finished.
6. Sympathy Action & Birthday Celebration
Date of Activity July 2012 – June 2013 (occasionally)
Objectives  To encourage our members to help other member who
needed in a certain situation.
 To encourage the birthday celebration among fellow
members of NTUST-ISA.

8. Assisting OIA for DIKTI’s Bridging Program

 It looked like that the first batch of the program was in rush,
so the participants had seen to be not prepared with the
condition of studying in NTUST of because the minimum

thus so far the assistance could be run more smoothly.
Suggestions:
Even though it is an additional program for NTUST-ISA, but it
will be good that the lecturers of DIKTI program could be
members of ISA, and get involved with activities.

 The event went good, a lot of NTUST students came by
and tried to drink ’Dawet Ice’ as one of Indonesian
traditional drink.
 The purpose to introduce Indonesian culture is achieved
and also, many NTUST students can consider NTUST-ISA
as part of NTUST as a media to make friends.
Weaknesses:
 Limited time and the first event for this division, so we
didn’t give our best effort. Next time we need to improve
time management and preparation.
 ”Dawet Ice” taste was not as expected. Next time we
should try it first.
 The event was in a weekday, where so many students had
class, so it’s hard to get people to help the event,
especially the one who wear Indonesian traditional
costume.

 The stage is too narrow, so the Angklung player had to
stand too close to each other.
 The microphones for Angklung were not enough so they
had to play it as close to the microphone as they can.

5. Taipei International Travel Fair

 No rehearsal on the stage was made the dancers could not
arrange their position at the centre of the stage.

Weaknesses:
 The sound is not that clear but too loud. It was disturbing
the Saman dancers because they need to yell.
 They didn’t provide the microphones for Saman dancers.
 The performers were too close to the audiences and the
stage provided was too narrow.

students in NTUST.

 The room is too small so the dancers were too close to the
audience.
 The sound system was not that clear but too loud. It was
disturbing the Saman dancers because they need to yell.
 Since this is casual party they didn’t provide stage, so the
dancers were sitting on the floor and some audiences
were still standing.
 Saman dance is not suitable for casual party.

Details  We had a bazaar booth where we sold Indonesian Cuisine
(Indomie and Batagor) and provide traditional clothes to
try on.

 The event’s committee is very cooperative and helpful in
fulfilling what the dancers need, such as space, sound,

 The audiences enjoy the dance and gave big applauses
during the performance. It reflects their respect and
admiration on our performance.
Weaknesses:
 The event started 40 minutes late, while the dancer’s
team came too early.
 The stage was big enough but full with band appliances,
so they just provided limited space for saman dancers.

14. NTUST-ISA Culture Catalogue

Objectives As a media to advertise Indonesian culture and also NTUST-
ISA performances in Taiwan.
Target Taiwanese and international organizations and companies
Reasons  Inventory & Culture division focused more on answering
the high amount of performances invitations.
 A person that was assigned as the catalog designer, for
some reasons can’t come back to Taiwan during this
period, so we can’t continue this project.
 Since the amounts of performances in this period somehow
were more than enough, this project was decided to be
stopped.
Evaluations Choose person in charge for this project directly and since it
will take a long time process, it is better to start this project in
the beginning of period.
15. Inventory Record & Control
Summary Committees have been successfully recorded and managed all
inventories on hand. Every borrowing also has been recorded
carefully.
Suggestions for the I&C team member:
 Divide the job to the appropriate amount of people and people with high
commitment is in a great need.
 Choose 1 person to be a Person in charge (PIC) in each dance.
 Keep all the dances practice continuously with or without the performance request.
 Always try to regenerate the dancers and schedule the regular practices.

Responding to OIA request to develop an Indonesian
version of the school’s site, we have coordinated with Computer
Center and established some ready-to-publish contents, all
according to Computer Center’s suggestion for the alternative
version. Entering the last weeks of this semester, the progress
of the work is near to completion.
Unfortunately, the access delegated to NTUST-ISA is no
longer functioning. It was confirmed with OIA that there has
been a new rule regarding the school’s site password usage and
that the project has been suspended.
NTUST-ISA’s website:
NTUST-ISA’s site has been up and running, helping many
new Indonesian students through registration processes, ever
since last year. It was truly unfortunate to have the site
ravaged by an accident during the development of NTUST-ISA’s
sub-site for Indonesian Culture Exhibition. We have been able to
get the site back online, but the outdated contents need to be
replenished.

Budget for NTUST-ISA 2012/2013 was started by NTD 14,499 in July 2012. Our income to
support our activities basically came from our members self-funding. Other income source came
from performance, flea market, festival, etc. During this period, the generated income is NTD
91,599. This fund was used to fund Indonesian students activities related to not only in academic
field but also sports, arts, and friendship activities. The total expenses during this period is NTD
60,216. NTUST-ISA not only become indepent organization but also profitable organization by

have good information access about everything, gain their knowledge about
environment, friendship, and adaptation acceleration.
 Doesn’t have early expectation is doesn’t make they don’t have sense of
belonging, from the survey, even they doesn’t have early expectation they still
follow NTUST ISA event and also still have sense of belonging.

 Member update the information related with NTUST ISA mostly by social
network and also from friends, few people use mailing list to update their
information (but still several people use it).
Insights:
 There is a room to improve the committee services, such as defining the key
performance index (KPI) in the beginning of the year service, regularly
updating the evaluation report to members of NTUST-ISA, etc.
Conclusion:
Successfully of NTUST ISA’s event/programs is one of parameter from
the respondent to have: sense of belonging/feeling, facilitated/feeling
helped/other feeling, therefore for every programs should have been
spread out well via social net/media (include mailing list).

General inputs for next term:
1. Introducing NTUST-ISA more deeply to new members, to prevent some missed
information.
2. Arranging more communal activities that can obtain lots of participation from
members of NTUST-ISA.
3. Reviewing some regulations of NTUST-ISA, especially about membership fee.
4. Updating information more regularly on websites and optimizing ftp usage.
5. Encountering some potential challenges that might be occurred in the future, like
decreasing number of Indonesian students in NTUST, school’s regulation changing,
technology advanced development, etc.
We hope that this accountability report could be a representative picture of all activities
of NTUST-ISA period 2012-2013. We’re sincerely acknowledged that there are many
strengths and weakness in it, in which we’re believe that the next term of committee
could use it as insights to build stronger team so that NTUST-ISA can always grow better
and give tremendous value to its stakeholders.
We would like to give our deepest gratitude to Prof. Alicia D. Lloyd as NTUST-ISA adviser
for her valuable supports on giving us many advices, suggestions, and opportunities to
enhance our activities this year. Also to some close partners of NTUST-ISA that we’re
very happy to have opportunity to know and cooperate, like PPI Taiwan and AIA
(Association of International Affairs).
Finally, we also want to give the sincerest thanks for all members of NTUST-ISA for their
valuable supports, participations, and aspirations so that many activities of NTUST-ISA
period 2012-2013 could be realized.
