a) Draw out a storyboard for your video. Include different shot types and the
specific edits. Scan and add to blog.
b) Write a script for your filming. Who will say what? Make sure this is formatted
correctly. Upload to slideshare and embed in blog.
4 Prelim Product a) Film and edit your own video to the set brief.
b) Export as a .mov upload to YouTube and add to your blog.
5 Prelim Evaluation Consider the strengths and weaknesses of your work. Also discuss things that you
have learnt that will benefit your future work.
6 Genre Research Create a PowerPoint that discusses the generic conventions of thriller films. You
should discuss 3 examples. Upload this to slideshare and embed into your blog.
7 Textual Analysis a) Create a Prezi titled Textual Analysis.
b) In this prezi you should analyse a minimum of 2 film openings. Do this shot by
shot.

b) Create a collage of cut outs/Google images of inspirational fonts, costume,
images etc. Reflect and discuss how these are born out of your textual analysis

a) Create your own questionnaire using both qualitative and quantitative
questions.
b) Answer other people questionnaires while yours is answered by them.
c) Analyse your responses and create graphs to help you discuss the responses in
the blog post. Focus on how this data will help you when you produce your
magazine. What will you take on board and action in your own work.

Create a blog post that outlines ideas that you have for your film opening or
magazine based upon research that you’ve undertaken. Clearly outline where
your inspiration has come from.

Research
Create a post – Research into Institutions that distribute similar products. Follow
the seven steps on the blog to complete this post.

Are there any mainstream distributers that might take a chance on your film and
distribute it? Why? Think here of films such as City of God (a foreign language
film that was so well received by audiences that Miramax picked it up) or This is
England. Does your film have anything that would suggest that it would be well
received if it’s not already a mainstream film?
15 Foley Sound Research Foley sound. What is it? How does it work? Find some examples of how
Foley sounds are created. See if you can find a video of a Foley artist at work. This
should be added to your blog as a post titled as Foley Sound Research.
16 Costume & Props Research costume and props – why are they necessary?
Create a blog post to outline your findings.
Plan your own ideas for costume and props. What will you need and where can
you find them?
17 Synopsis Please create a post ‘film synopsis’ and provide an overview of your film’s
narrative (what happens in your entire film)
Then create a breakdown of the opening……what happens in the first 2 minutes
of your film
18 Story Board Draw out your idea for your film opening. Be realistic with shot types and shot
durations. Remember to include film titles.

Compare your storyboard to a film opening and evaluate it. Have you
incorporated suitable forms and conventions of real media texts? Do you think
you’ll need to make any adjustments at this stage?
20 Reece What is your location like? Will it pose and problems? Fill in the Reece template
and add to your blog.
21 Risk Assessment What risks does your location pose. Identify and plan to minimise them. Fill in the
Risk Assessment template and add to your blog.
22 Model Release
Form
It is imperative that you get permission from your models to use images of them.
Print out and get your model to complete the model release form. This MUST be
signed.
23 Call Sheet Be organised, tell your model where they need to be and when. Complete the
call sheet form and add to blog.

Schedule
Plan your shoot. When and where will you be and what will you be filming. Who
will need to be there and what equipment will you need?
