Objective of the project:
To bring awareness about the importance of planting trees
To make students aware about the importance of being enviroment-friendly
To make college campus into a pollution free environment
About OXIWIFI event:
The tree plantation programme organized by Rotaract Club of SAEC to create
awareness on global warming which was held on 1st April 2016, jointly with the
Social Service Committee of SAEC.
3. The event was inaugurated by Dr.P.K.Nagarajan, Principal of SAEC by planting a
sapling in college premises. Followed by Dr.VijiRajesh HOD/MBA, Mr.B.Madhu,
HOD/Mechanical Engineering Department, Mr. Prakash AP/EEE (Co-ordinator of
Social Service Committee of SAEC) and Mr.Kabilash AP/Civil Engineering
Department (Member of Social Service Committee of SAEC) also planted the
saplings.
Around 35 Rotaract members were part of this event, who together planted nearly
30 saplings which included neem, mango, teak, portia, gooseberry, tamarind etc.
As this was the first project coordinated by the Rotaract club, all the Rotaractors
enthusiastically planted the trees and enhanced coordination.
It is needless to speak the importance of trees. It is not possible to describe the
importance and uses of trees in world. They are part and parcel in our day to day
life. We cannot think our existence without trees. Rabindranath says “Back thy
forest, take your town”. Likewise Rotaract of SAEC, with the great support of
Director Thiru. P. Venkatesh Raja, Secretary Thiru. D.Dasarathan, Principal
Dr.P.K.Nagarajan, HOD’s of various department and faculty members of SAEC
had launched a massive and ambitious programme regarding tree plantation. We
should not use and destroy trees at random. Rather we should plant trees more and
for a better and healthier life.
