This document provides a user's guide for an online Mandarin Chinese reader tool. It describes the tool's main functions, including reading input text aloud sentence by sentence or character by character, selecting a narrator, and adjusting reading settings. It also outlines advanced reading mode settings that allow adjusting the reading style and speed. Additionally, it covers conversation mode settings and Chinese pinyin learning tools available within the program.

“Online Mandarin Chinese Reader” was developed by Anhui USTC iFLYTEK Co., Ltd. Based on the leading
Chinese speech technology of iFLYTEK, this system could read any Chinese word/sentences, the major functions
include:
1. You can input any Chinese text, there are two narrators (Man/Woman) you can select to read the text for
you.
2. You can select to read the full text, character by character or word by word. Click the sentence, the
character, the word, you can hear it!
3. The Advanced reading mode settings allows you to make some changes for the reading style, such as you
can let the man and woman to read dialogues for you, and the reading speed, the Chinese Pinyin can also be
adjusted.
4. You can save the audio file and text file marked with Chinese Pinyin.
Firstly, you should input some Chinese text in the box and select a speaker. It is shown in Figure 1.

After that, the text will be read sentence by sentence. Each word will been marked with Chinese Pinyin.
Click a word, you can select a sentence, and click on the PLAY button, you can hear the sentence. Double Click a
word, you can hear the word. You also can change the speaker or select the display mode of Pinyin. It is shown in

If you select "Characters", the text will be read character by character. (Figure 3)

3. If you select "Words", the text will be read word by word. (Figure 4)

If you want to listen more, please move your mouse on the input box and input the text. You can save the
audio file, the text + pinyin file and the Lyrics file. (Figure 5)

1. Voiced Chinese Pinyin Table —— listen by click

Functions: (L)
- Sample reading from A to Z according to the initial characters, the user can also add some syllables to the
blanks.
- Free (L)Pinyin input (e.g. wo3 ai4 bei3 jing1 tian1 an1 men2 or wo3 ai4 bei3jing1 tian1an1men2）, the
computer read first, with male and female options.
- Pinyin and characters mixture input allowed.
- This function could be find in the “Advanced reading mode”（“Read as Pinyin”）
3. Chinese Pinyin Annotator —— Input characters can be marked with Pinyin

- Any Chinese text can be marked with Pinyin, just by click “Annotate Chinese Pinyin”
- Sentences are automatically separated into phrase
- Pinyin and the separated phrase can be modified
- Marked Pinyin can be saved in the format of .html
