I. What is culture and diversified culture
1. Culture
- Culture is an integral part of every society.
- Culture constitudes the music , food, arts, literature, lifestyle of
people in a society.
2. Diversified culture

        The USA is a society of immigrants.
III. Halloween in America
Origins
Halloween began two thousand years ago in Ireland,
England, and Northern France with the ancient
religion of the Celts (Paganism).
Samhain ( sow-in)
 On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain,
 when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead
 returned to earth.
Costumes
People thought that they would encounter
ghosts if they left their homes…
So they wore costumes.
This way, the ghosts couldn’t recognize them!
trick or treat
If you don’t give candy to a trick-or-
treater…
This could happen to you!
III. Halloween in America’s cities

1. New York
New York's Village Halloween Parade

                                      an annual holiday parade and street
                                      pageant presented the night of every
                                      Halloween (October 31) in New York
                                      City’s Greenwich Village.
the largest public Halloween event in the
United States, and the country's only
major night parade. It has been called
"New York's Carnival."
2. Chicago

              that takes place the entire

The Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier Chicago




                              The Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier has been touted as one
                              of the best and scariest haunted houses in Chicago.
3. Halloween in North America:

   - people in North America celebrate Halloween in a
   very particular way



 - They go to buy costumes
 of something they want
 to be, put the costume on
 and bring a sack with
 them
Having a party!!!
5. Halloween in Florida
- Guavaween is an annual Latin-
  flavored Halloween celebration which takes place on the
  last Saturday of October in the historic neighborhood
  of Ybor
