2. Life grows from design. It is one of my greatest
joys to form dynamic spaces that promote life.
My studies began in engineering, where I felt
restricted by the lack of creative opportunities.
I changed paths in order to study interior
design, and since then my academic career
has been much more engaging.
Working on a project, I am able to positively
manipulate the constraints in order to discover
a solution with the greatest potential. Finally, I
can breathe myself into my work.
“There is a role and function for beauty in
our time”- Tadao Ando

RESIDENTIAL - BARN PROJECT
BARNHOUSE
Constraints
One problem with barnhouse is that the barn
has two entrances and the east and the garage
must be on the south side of the barn’s
structure. These issues are important to the
designers in
converting the barn into efficient and
comfortable house and place of
business. The office and studio will be
accessible from the interior.
Opportunities
In maintaining with the country locale a porch
has been added, attached to the overhead barn
door to create an open space for customers to
talk and enjoy the country air.
Because the barn is rectangular all the pluming
should be run on the longitudinal side of the
house to allow easy access for maintenance
and repair.
Windows will be high to allow in light and open
up the interior spaces, from the exterior these
windows will be keeping with a country home.

MOVEMENT OF FEATHER
Forming an environment for innovation and leader-
ship is the target that Northfolk Institution Univer-
sity wants to reach in education. To be successful
in education and in teaching, the study environ-
ment has to be active, transform and innovation.
Changing in color of the peacock’s feather from
the darkest to brightest will be used in accents
throughout the spaces...
Peacock’s itself has extremely high level of
organization, texture, shapes and colors.

10. CARILLON
The concept is called
“Greenhouse” since, by its
definition is an enclosed protective
structure full of vitality. The concept
will include a glass frame and
wood ceilings. The space be
conducive to reliable care while
bringing the best protection to the
tender plants which are a metaphor
for older residents who need gentle
care and a clean environment.
Greenhouse also means giving
long–lasting care, the design
focuses on giving the best care in
functional and a reliable community
for residents. Residents and families
alike will feel new fresh air
throughout open spaces not like any
traditional nursing homes. The
families and residents will feel well
cared for.

LOSS OF IDENTITY
Mission Statement:
“To create a deep and authentic experiential journey that
grapples with the most difficult and perplexing issues
plaguing humanity.
We are trying to convey that the Holocaust happened
because it could happen” -Omniplan
Concept Statement:
Throughout the holocaust, millions of people were
stripped of their identity due to the mistreatment and
discrimination of their existence. Their removal from society
led to a feeling of dissociation with humanity...
This project was collaborative project within interior design,
architecture, and landscape major students.
Group members:
Interior Design: Trang N Do, Emily Schauer, Michaela Knight,
Cristiana Rueda
Architecture: Emmanuel Jimenez
Landscape: Chelsea Lemons, Daniel Vaught

BIOMETRIC
The Biometric concept was derived by nature.
The concept of bringing nature into working office environment is a challenging game that
has potential benefits for the whole design. Every single interior space presents a
challenge in picking the materials to meet the concept but still keep with the function
overall. Using the organic materials like wood, bamboo, and natural granite tile, were
potential choices for this project.
The interior space was connected to the exterior space by high windows, and sliding
doors so as to create an ease of access to the outdoor working area. Different materials
are used for the flooring to separate spaces. Bamboo (green wall) was used in spaces as
a natural accent.
To maintain the space as a working environment, modern, functional furniture was
selected in most of the interior office spaces.

SAND GARDEN
Concept Statement
The inspiration for this coffee shop was sand
garden. Sand gardens symbolize peace and calm.
Using the primary colors in this design along with
inspiration images to create a color palate that
would make a natural and peaceful environment.
Sandstone is incorporated into
rock walls to create texture
and deep earthy tones to create colorful depth. This
sand garden concept is meant to invoke a sense of
the Middle Eastern culture.
Over all, the design is very warm and inviting with
a mostly traditional feel, with simply modern elements.

CLOCKWORK
Time affects everything, it cannot be
outrun. Color itself has inspired
manipulation of time, starting with an
image of mechanical clock. After
tracing all the detail lines, some lines
were removed to allow experimenting
with the more important forms, the
gears and cogs that move the world.
From there it is transformed. What fun
is it if time is always linear?
