2. Present perfect
To form the present perfect, the auxiliary verb "to have" is used in the present and the past participle of the verb. For
regular verbs, the past participle is the simple form of the past. See the lesson on the past simple for more information
on how to form the past.
Examples
We have lived in this house for over twenty years. ...
She has never been to Florida. ...
I'm bored; I have seen this film a thousand times. ..

3. Past perfect
The Past Perfect is formed with had + past participle of the verb. For example, I had asked. The order of the
negative form is subject, auxiliary verb had, not and past participle. For example, I had not asked.
Max knew Paris because he had visited the city several times.
