Boston University Personal Statement
The humanities have played a vital role in my development in college, as they permeated my
undergraduate studies. I am currently a senior at Boston University. I am majoring in the History of
Art and Architecture, and I am double minoring in Medieval Studies and Classical Civilizations.
These academic areas have shaped my outlook on the world, as I studied histories and cultures from
different civilizations throughout the centuries. The humanities are the only field that allows this
kind of introspection on a culture. I think this is a vital connection, as an individual can learn what
to emulate from the past in order to have a better future. Upon entering college, I was fascinated
with art and I wanted to learn more about the history of different artists, and how certain movements
in art came into fruition. In my four years at Boston University, I have focused mainly on Western
pre–Modern art, and I have especially enjoyed studying Medieval and Classical art. To me, these
two movements act as the backbone to representing art both stylistically and realistically. My focus
in these two movements in art history has led me to analyze how women were...show more content...
The Middle Ages represented a period of strife not only among people to survive, but also in
religion, as Roman Catholic Church developed its core ideals in this period. This focus on the
Medieval time period in history led me to interesting conclusions, as the majority of writings that
survive from this time period are from Church officials. While I was taking a course on Medieval
Christianity, I researched the topic of concubinage among priests. What I discovered was an
interesting discrepancy between punishments for men and women in France, England, and Spain. I
also discerned that the blame for the crime of concubinage differed in these countries, as England
placed more blame on women, while in Spain, Church officials fined the

I am about to complete my junior year as biology major at Boston University. My goal is to
complete my undergraduate degree, and earn an advanced degree in MD or PhD. I have always
had a strong interest in science especially chemistry and biology. Coming from a third world
country, I did not have the opportunity to work in a lab. Coming to USA enabled and give me more
opportunity then in my country. Roxbury Community College did not only prepared me for a
four–year college, but it also gave me the background needed for my goal as an MD or PhD student.
During the spring semester of my freshmen year at Roxbury Community College, I joined a
program called LSAMP, and for the first time really began to experience firsthand the benefits and
importance of research and also externship. Perhaps the thing that first attracted me to LSAMP was
the generous stipend afforded to me by being a part of the program and the opportunities students of
this program were offered. However, it was when I received a summer research opportunity that I

I did not expect to enjoy the research that was part of the program; was I ever wrong. The
program gave me a chance to not only learn about research but to practice research with the
assistance of some other professors in different areas. The experience during the summer showed
me how answers to so many questions are found through the process of research. One thing that
both challenged me and amazed me was when I was working with DNA. The challenging part
was on DNA or RNA extraction because most of the time we might lose it. The amazing part was
taking a bacteria DNA and inducing it into a plant for further genetic studies. I was really amazed to
know the induction of a DNA into another cell despite their classification. It also awakened in me the
possibility that I too could make a major contribution to the world through

Boston University is a perfect fit for me because of what the school offers its student. It provides
a variety of majors and minors that fit my desire to pursue a career in the medical profession. I'm
interested in double majoring in Biology and Economics. When I visited the college, the students
and staff were accommodating and outgoing. During my tour, I was intrigued as the student guide
told us about the diverse student population that occupied the school from across the US and over
100 countries around the world. The city of Boston is filled with rich history and landmarks to
explore, and the campus location is ideal. As a student, I want to study abroad and join many
activities and clubs. From the 36 locations, I'm pleased to learn

Why Go To Boston University
I chose to apply to Boston University based on two main reasons: what I can get from Boston
University's undergraduate program and what I can give in return. I was born in a country where
air pollution level increases significantly each year. As a result I have developed an allergy to the
polluted air and often have a problem to get out of my house, especially during the winter. I believe
that the place where Boston University exists is an invaluable home for me to live, not to mention
the beautiful view of nature. Unlike other Ivy League schools in Boston, Boston University's
biochemical and medical program proved me that I have to be a part of this university's
undergraduate program. I strongly believe that Boston University is a home to

My professional experience as a Data Analyst for the past five years and a thirst for advanced and
globally competitive education inspired me to apply for a Masters degree in Information Assurance
(MSIA) at St. Cloud State University (SCSU), St. Cloud, Minnesota. The purpose of this document
is to succinctly put forward my professional experience and lay out career goals in support of my
application to St. Cloud State University.
In 2007, having just earned a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, I joined Deloitte
Consulting, India as an Associate Analyst in its healthcare domain. My time, 2007–2012, at Deloitte
was both challenging and rewarding with a fast paced career evolution that involved me advancing
in the company via various roles – from a claims resolution analyst to a quality control analyst to an
on–site billing representative to a team leader and to a business reporting analyst. My rapid
metamorphosis into a team leader also provided me with an opportunity to work at a client's site in
North Carolina, USA, for six months during 2010. Working in the United States has helped me gain
substantial exposure to the professional and cultural aspects of this country. It was one of the most
memorable learning experiences in my professional career, which I quite revere to this day.
In 2011, I was selected as a business reporting analyst in an internal job posting. After being trained
on advanced MS Excel and SQL I was involved in the inception

My decision to apply to the Masters of Medical Sciences program at the Boston University is the
most important one ever since I made the decision to pursue medicine as my future career. As a
former lab manager who conducted various research on cell biology, I have learned that research
alone wasn't able to satisfy my desire to develop relationships with the individuals that I help. After
learning about the program, its curriculum, and its countless extracurricular opportunities, I believe
this Masters program will be my stepping stone to medical school. I want to become a healthcare
practitioner that can provide and engage in up–to–date research as a means of broadening options for
patients. I had an opportunity as a lab manager to meet a MD PhD student who entered her
program to become a doctor who can provide the best care using current knowledge and contribute
to the knowledge by engaging in research. Her example has inspired me to take steps toward
becoming a physician who constantly strives for better patient care. I wish to bring my passion as a
lifelong learner and my experiences from working in academic labs to BU MAMS and further

accepted, Boston University would be a great college for you! It's not too difficult to be accepted

The campus here is over two miles of beautiful buildings and parks; it's a campus that feels like

incoming GPA of 3.6 ("Boston University"). So you don't need to be a genius to be accepted!
Not everyone has enough money to go to college. If you work hard enough, you can apply for a

Boston University Diversity Case Study
Boston University, though taking measures to diversify its community since 2014, has a long road
of work ahead campus–wide, according to its spokesperson and a Boston city councilor who
subpoenaed the school's president in 2014 to discuss diversity.
In fall 2014, 16 percent of BU's undergraduate students were underrepresented minorities, according
to National Center for Education Statistics data. In comparison, 28 percent of undergraduate
enrollment in private nonprofit postsecondary institutions in fall 2014 were underrepresented
minorities, other NCES data shows.
While the BU freshman class of 2019 rose to 18 percent underrepresented minorities, that of the
class of 2020 dropped to 15.6 percent, a rate that Colin Riley, the BU Director of...show more

these scholarships from 2009–2014, 71 percent were African–American, Asian–American and
Hispanic–American.
Brown attributed a lack of faculty diversity to the "pipeline challenge," the low amount of qualified
minority–identified candidates, in his testimony. Regarding students, Riley said in a recent interview
that there are many highly selective schools in the Boston area, so when outstanding students are
looking to go to school in Boston, they have several options.
"Sometimes when people think diversity, they only talk about underrepresented minorities and
people of color, and we know diversity has many other aspects – socio–economic, geographic,
demographics aspects, as well," said Riley.
On campus, BU commemorates these many facets of diversity through an array of events and
opportunities, such as celebrating International Education Week 2016, which took place in
November, and offering dozens of study abroad programs. BU also has over 450 student
organizations, 36 of which are cultural, according to BU Student

Supplemental Essay: Boston University
Boston University: Supplemental Essay To be a versatile student is to be aware that the classroom
is not the only environment where learning can take place. Our perspectives are heavily shaped by
the interactions we have with those who come from different worldviews. I believe that this value is
upheld at Boston University and has influenced my decision to apply for admission. As someone
who wants to pursue a major in International Business, I believe that this program can help me to be
more culturally competent, but also be more aware of the significance of the diverse community that
is present at Boston University. Diversity is a paramount aspect, especially in school. When you
have diversity, you have disparate views on the world. My high

As a child growing up in Communist China, I woke up every morning to the blasting of People's
Central Broadcasting Station from a large radio on the dresser and fell asleep every evening in the
surreptitious murmuring of Voices from America from a small radio by Grandpa's pillow. By fourth
grade, I figured out that the two stations often reported the same events from opposite standpoints,
using different words and tones, and thus projected contradictory interpretations onto the same
events. Eager to share this revelation with my grandparents, I pointed out the differences between the
two stations by singing their respective theme songs and by imitating the voices of their newscasters.

This past summer, I conducted thesis research on communal and private spaces in Shanghai, where,
through video interviews with former residents, I traced the external and internal, concrete and
abstract changes in three houses from their inceptions to the present. Each house may be thought
of as a palimpsest of memories, of which every wall has markings from different decades, and
every altar held a succession of gods and idols. In excavating these private histories, I was
particularly struck by the ambivalent and ironic moments, where it was impossible to draw a clear
line between good and evil, between innocence and guilt, where the humanity of the situation was
stripped of the cloak of abstract principles and became uniquely touching.
Driven by the wish to rescue common people's stories from sweeping historical master–narratives
and by the impulse to help different cultures understand one another on a profound, human level, I
want to be a writer and documentary filmmaker, so that I can pay intimate attention to individuals
while dealing with larger issues. Film, in particular, can immerse its audience in the world it
recreates, allowing them to recognize themselves in others and thereby bridging the distance
between the two.
My own immersion in a foreign culture, however, has been limited to the U.S.. Many other parts of
the globe remain images and concepts to me, even Europe, a continent that has so deeply influenced

I was a person, who wants to be a successful businessman like everyone else until one tragic event
happened in my country. This tragic event made me dramatically shift in my thinking, and make me
to strongly realize what I have to do for now. There was the devastating natural disaster happened in
the North east of Japan on March 11, 2011, and confirmed death counts over 30,000. It was the
biggest earthquake in the history of Japan. I could not even say a word when I watched the news

such as nuclear plant, and Japan's economy got even worse after the earthquake happened.
However, people all over the world gave us a hope, courage, and power to get better society back.
Now, it is time for us to respond to those expectations. We, as our young generations, now have to
be a leader of Japan to make wonderful society. And I am willing to be one, who will lead the

Do you happen to know any 18 year olds that have written a research paper on bioterrorism and

Although such matters may seem boring to some, they happen to excite me! I am currently a student
at Christopher Newport University (CNU), and I have realized that the opportunities presented to me

I felt as though I didn't really love what I was studying, that I wasn't really connecting with other

attend George Mason, and share with me new people they've met, as well as, new cultures they've

high school, having an impressive academic GPA and application essay, you should have letters of
recommendation from your teachers, employers, or counselors, and having excellent standardized
test scores will better your chances of being accepted into the college.

Boston University Application Essay

  • 1. Boston University Personal Statement The humanities have played a vital role in my development in college, as they permeated my undergraduate studies. I am currently a senior at Boston University. I am majoring in the History of Art and Architecture, and I am double minoring in Medieval Studies and Classical Civilizations. These academic areas have shaped my outlook on the world, as I studied histories and cultures from different civilizations throughout the centuries. The humanities are the only field that allows this kind of introspection on a culture. I think this is a vital connection, as an individual can learn what to emulate from the past in order to have a better future. Upon entering college, I was fascinated with art and I wanted to learn more about the history of different artists, and how certain movements in art came into fruition. In my four years at Boston University, I have focused mainly on Western pre–Modern art, and I have especially enjoyed studying Medieval and Classical art. To me, these two movements act as the backbone to representing art both stylistically and realistically. My focus in these two movements in art history has led me to analyze how women were...show more content... The Middle Ages represented a period of strife not only among people to survive, but also in religion, as Roman Catholic Church developed its core ideals in this period. This focus on the Medieval time period in history led me to interesting conclusions, as the majority of writings that survive from this time period are from Church officials. While I was taking a course on Medieval Christianity, I researched the topic of concubinage among priests. What I discovered was an interesting discrepancy between punishments for men and women in France, England, and Spain. I also discerned that the blame for the crime of concubinage differed in these countries, as England placed more blame on women, while in Spain, Church officials fined the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Boston University Personal Statement I am about to complete my junior year as biology major at Boston University. My goal is to complete my undergraduate degree, and earn an advanced degree in MD or PhD. I have always had a strong interest in science especially chemistry and biology. Coming from a third world country, I did not have the opportunity to work in a lab. Coming to USA enabled and give me more opportunity then in my country. Roxbury Community College did not only prepared me for a four–year college, but it also gave me the background needed for my goal as an MD or PhD student. During the spring semester of my freshmen year at Roxbury Community College, I joined a program called LSAMP, and for the first time really began to experience firsthand the benefits and importance of research and also externship. Perhaps the thing that first attracted me to LSAMP was the generous stipend afforded to me by being a part of the program and the opportunities students of this program were offered. However, it was when I received a summer research opportunity that I ...show more content... I did not expect to enjoy the research that was part of the program; was I ever wrong. The program gave me a chance to not only learn about research but to practice research with the assistance of some other professors in different areas. The experience during the summer showed me how answers to so many questions are found through the process of research. One thing that both challenged me and amazed me was when I was working with DNA. The challenging part was on DNA or RNA extraction because most of the time we might lose it. The amazing part was taking a bacteria DNA and inducing it into a plant for further genetic studies. I was really amazed to know the induction of a DNA into another cell despite their classification. It also awakened in me the possibility that I too could make a major contribution to the world through Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It provides a variety of majors and minors that fit my desire to pursue a career in the medical profession. I'm interested in double majoring in Biology and Economics. The city of Boston is filled with rich history and landmarks to explore, and the campus location is ideal. As a student, I want to study abroad and join many activities and clubs. • 4. Why Go To Boston University I chose to apply to Boston University based on two main reasons: what I can get from Boston University's undergraduate program and what I can give in return. I was born in a country where air pollution level increases significantly each year. As a result I have developed an allergy to the polluted air and often have a problem to get out of my house, especially during the winter. I believe that the place where Boston University exists is an invaluable home for me to live, not to mention the beautiful view of nature. Unlike other Ivy League schools in Boston, Boston University's biochemical and medical program proved me that I have to be a part of this university's undergraduate program. • 5. Statement of Intent My professional experience as a Data Analyst for the past five years and a thirst for advanced and globally competitive education inspired me to apply for a Masters degree in Information Assurance (MSIA) at St. Cloud State University (SCSU), St. Cloud, Minnesota. The purpose of this document is to succinctly put forward my professional experience and lay out career goals in support of my application to St. Cloud State University. In 2007, having just earned a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, I joined Deloitte Consulting, India as an Associate Analyst in its healthcare domain. My time, 2007–2012, at Deloitte was both challenging and rewarding with a fast paced career evolution that involved me advancing in the company via various roles – from a claims resolution analyst to a quality control analyst to an on–site billing representative to a team leader and to a business reporting analyst. My rapid metamorphosis into a team leader also provided me with an opportunity to work at a client's site in North Carolina, USA, for six months during 2010. Working in the United States has helped me gain substantial exposure to the professional and cultural aspects of this country. It was one of the most memorable learning experiences in my professional career, which I quite revere to this day. In 2011, I was selected as a business reporting analyst in an internal job posting. • 6. Boston University Admission Essay Sample My decision to apply to the Masters of Medical Sciences program at the Boston University is the most important one ever since I made the decision to pursue medicine as my future career. As a former lab manager who conducted various research on cell biology, I have learned that research alone wasn't able to satisfy my desire to develop relationships with the individuals that I help. After learning about the program, its curriculum, and its countless extracurricular opportunities, I believe this Masters program will be my stepping stone to medical school. I want to become a healthcare practitioner that can provide and engage in up–to–date research as a means of broadening options for patients. I had an opportunity as a lab manager to meet a MD PhD student who entered her program to become a doctor who can provide the best care using current knowledge and contribute to the knowledge by engaging in research. Her example has inspired me to take steps toward becoming a physician who constantly strives for better patient care. Boston University Diversity Case Study Boston University, though taking measures to diversify its community since 2014, has a long road of work ahead campus–wide, according to its spokesperson and a Boston city councilor who subpoenaed the school's president in 2014 to discuss diversity. Regarding students, Riley said in a recent interview that there are many highly selective schools in the Boston area, so when outstanding students are looking to go to school in Boston, they have several options. "Sometimes when people think diversity, they only talk about underrepresented minorities and people of color, and we know diversity has many other aspects – socio–economic, geographic, demographics aspects, as well," said Riley. On campus, BU commemorates these many facets of diversity through an array of events and opportunities, such as celebrating International Education Week 2016, which took place in November, and offering dozens of study abroad programs. As someone who wants to pursue a major in International Business, I believe that this program can help me to be more culturally competent, but also be more aware of the significance of the diverse community that is present at Boston University. Cambridge Admissions Essay Cambridge Admissions Essay As a child growing up in Communist China, I woke up every morning to the blasting of People's Central Broadcasting Station from a large radio on the dresser and fell asleep every evening in the surreptitious murmuring of Voices from America from a small radio by Grandpa's pillow. By fourth grade, I figured out that the two stations often reported the same events from opposite standpoints, using different words and tones, and thus projected contradictory interpretations onto the same events. Eager to share this revelation with my grandparents, I pointed out the differences between the two stations by singing their respective theme songs and by imitating the voices of their newscasters. This past summer, I conducted thesis research on communal and private spaces in Shanghai, where, through video interviews with former residents, I traced the external and internal, concrete and abstract changes in three houses from their inceptions to the present. Each house may be thought of as a palimpsest of memories, of which every wall has markings from different decades, and every altar held a succession of gods and idols. In excavating these private histories, I was particularly struck by the ambivalent and ironic moments, where it was impossible to draw a clear line between good and evil, between innocence and guilt, where the humanity of the situation was stripped of the cloak of abstract principles and became uniquely touching. Driven by the wish to rescue common people's stories from sweeping historical master–narratives and by the impulse to help different cultures understand one another on a profound, human level, I want to be a writer and documentary filmmaker, so that I can pay intimate attention to individuals while dealing with larger issues. Film, in particular, can immerse its audience in the world it recreates, allowing them to recognize themselves in others and thereby bridging the distance between the two.
