Around 7.3 million people in the United States are vegetarian ("Vegetarian Times"). The dictionary
defines a vegetarian as "A person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products,

advocates vegetarianism is one of many reasons some people follow a vegetarian diet. A senior at

Welfare Act). The Animal Welfare Act has authority over animals in laboratories, animal exhibitors,
dealers who sell animals to research laboratories, dog and cat breeders, animal carriers, intermediate
handlers, circuses, zoos, puppy roadside menageries, mills, and transporters of animals. Under the
Act, people must provide their animals with adequate care and treatment in the areas of housing,
handling, sanitation, nutrition, water, veterinary care, and protection from extreme weather and
temperatures (Animal Welfare Act). People that disobey the Act can receive punishments such as
revoked license, imprisonment, or a fine. Over one million birds and mammals are violently killed
every hour in the United States, and an estimated 150 billion animals per year are murdered
worldwide (Arora). Animal slaughterhouses for large food companies are known for animal cruelty
and vegetarians recognize this. Many vegetarians also boycott places like SeaWorld who keep wild
animals locked in cages. Every day in countries around the world, animals are fighting for their lives.

hand, some people oppose it because they can take away a lot of jobs just by having these things.
Others believe that A.I is a good thing because it can be used in certain types of fields. My own
view is that Artificial Intelligence is a bad thing because of all things that can go wrong and because

Defining Artificial Intelligence (A.I). Artificial Intelligence is the study and design of intelligence

what should be done. A.I shouldn't be for cyberbullying and tell people to do certain things that are
not supposed to be done. Also, it shouldn't give out personal information of whoever the provider is.
With having these A.I robots they will know so much information and probably secret information
that maybe the government doesn't want out. Elon Musk states "A.I should not be weaponized, and

Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister
to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have
to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support
and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the
younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their

The Importance Of Writing An Argumentative Essay
As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but
with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a
lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it
requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself,
and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I
was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure,
reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing.
The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course
I learned the importance of having an essay structure, before I started this class I didn't have a
very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first
one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many
essays but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was,

People don't really know how to choose a long term partner" says Dr. Alvin Cooper (Razdan,
2014, p. 525), this statement comes from an essay titled "What's Love Got to Do with It?" by
Anjula Razdan. In the essay, Razdan invites the reader to consider arranged marriages and the
benefits that one could bring. In the beginning, she expresses her negative opinion on arranged
marriages but then goes on to provide the reader with different facts and statements from
professionals about why arranged marriages are a good thing. After considering the information
that was provided in the essay, like Razdan first stated, I also don't agree with arranged marriages.
Love should be the reason why people get married, not because their parents forced them to marry
someone or because they want social/economical gain. I was raised with the belief that I would
find my true love and when I found that person, he and I would get married because of love.
One of my biggest problems with arranged marriages is that they take away your sense of
freedom. Typically, in arranged marriages your lifelong partner is chosen by a family member and
most of the time, people don't even know the person they are getting married to. In the essay,
Razdan talks about her parents and how their relationship started. She says that her parent's
relationship was decided "over tea and samosas by their grandfathers" (Razdan, 2014, p.524) Then
she goes on to say that her parents "still barely knew each other on their wedding day – and they

involved in an arranged marriage, when I get married I want to marry someone that I love and
