Descriptive Essay On A Fire
Attributes of Fire
It was a bright and sunny day in mid–July, not a cloud in sight. I could feel the intense heat against
the back of my neck as I rode my bike along a remote mountain trail with my friend entail. We were
heading back towards the campgrounds after a long day of fun and adventure. As the beautiful sun
set across the horizon I realized that with the setting of the sun came the end to a long day full of
energy and livelihood. The very sun that made me sweat earlier that day gave me the the ability to
see and experience my surroundings. The light from the sun granted me the ability to see where I
was going on my bike, as it allows everyone to go about their daily lives with little to no thought
whatsoever.
After the sun had set my stomach began to rumble, signalling that dinner time was fast
approaching. That night we made a campfire and whipped up some good ol' fashion hot dogs. As
I was eating my hot dog I wondered, why is it that meat must be cooked? Looking at it now, I
know that it has to do with the fact that food is easier to digest when cooked and that humans have
evolved to the point where we need cooked food in order to gain more energy. As hours passed by
the sunny summer day became a sheer cold night. The only thing that was keeping all of us warm
was the heat being emitted from the campfire. The campfire brought the whole family together.
Many scary as well as funny stories were told that night. It was not until years later that I realized
that a

Footsteps
Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in
scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha was one of the civilians that was killed by
the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the swinging
bridge. The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest of his body
within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of the fire, but his attempts failed. He
decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis James Tacha's
body was never found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to make others
disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be forgotten. The few survivors of
the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on that cool
summer night.
Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen–year–old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an
all–girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement
as she places her last few shirts into her over–filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the
camp, she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change
colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, "Camp Rio." All around her, counselors and campers
radiate with joy. No one seems to be vexed that sky is dim from clouds hovering over the earth.

Terrace House Fire Essay
Following the tragic event of the great fire of London in 1666, the legislation regarding new
buildings in the metropolis became stricter and several laws and measures addressed fire prevention
issues. Many of these guidelines were changed several times over the years following various
building acts. Apart from the obvious benefits on fire protection, the legislation formed to a large
extent the streetscapes and vistas in the neighbourhoods of the capital and other cities in the 18th
and 19th centuries onwards. Building acts and by–laws did not just deal with structural issues; on
the contrary they were often mostly focused on health and sanitation issues that were vital in the
Victorian period. Ensuring more available free spaces, decent living conditions, constructions of
good quality, ventilation and natural lighting were very significant issues that were not considered
as given at the time. Features that appear to be typical for terrace houses came as a result of
different chapters in building acts and also appear for the two case studies we will be examining in
the next chapters. In order to describe just a few main defining characteristics and details...show more

Dividing walls between neighbouring properties, along with their obvious separating function,
provided a fire protection panel preventing potential spreading of the flames in fire emergencies.
Specific details are described for the party walls; in the building act of 1894, the height of the
parapets above the roof is specified to be minimum 15" measured at right angles to the slope, a
guideline which would remain valid until 1914. Avoiding continuous timber roof structures was a
key issue and can be identified also in earlier Acts and By–Laws, while the party wall should corbel

A Report On The Fire
INTRODUCTION
This is a report compiled by Musawenkosi Nkabinde a student at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University while conducting practicals in the kingdom of Swaziland at a company called Montigny
Forest Products. It is a company of about plus minus 75 000 hacters where a variety of species are
planted e.g. Pinus elliote, Patula, Taeda, Pexq, Eucalyptus Smithii, dannai etc. All these are planted
for different products dominating one being the production of planks which means the company
keeps many of its trees for many years till they mature.
The main purpose of this report is to give clarity on the fire, to determine the origin, determine
causes of the fire, damages caused by the fire and to develop ideas on how can unwanted fires like
these can be prevented from reoccurring in our plantations like the one occurred in compartment
C22 on the17 of JULY 2015 at 17:00pm till 23:00pm. A number of plus minus 600 pinus Elliote
trees were affected by this fire.
HISTORY OF THE AREA
It had been known for years that the belt dividing C22 and C14 has a problem with smoldering
materials, usually when that belt is burnt a tanker and two labourers are left behind extinguishing
the smoldering woods ensuring nothing lights up, but on this day the tanker had a breakdown two
days ago so it was unavailable and the was no other resource to take up its place it. Nearby these
compartments are wattle jungles which are always feared when burning fire belts knowing that once

The Fire
It was a chilly Wednesday morning on January 11th. When I woke up that morning, I would have
never expected something so tragic to happen that night. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
9:30pm: I was was watching Roman Atwood's vlog called "We are in trouble" and the video was
just ending and I was about to turn on the shower. That's when I heard loud bangs from my
brothers room. I thought my brother and my dad were fighting so I was about to walk out of my
door into hallway when my brother come running through our jack n jill bathroom. He comes
running into my room and into the hallway naked. Yes I was very shocked also, I looked at his
hand and saw little pieces of skin hanging from it and then saw that his stomach, chest and right are
was also burnt. He ran to our guest room and grabbed the fire extinguisher but sadly that was old
and wouldn't work. 9:40pm: I went to the balcony that overlooks the family room and I yelled
"TRENT'S ROOM IS ON FIRE" five times. I ran back to get my brother and grab a pair of
basketball shorts for him.
9:50pm: I ran into my grandpa's room and told him also " TRENT'S ROOM IS ON FIRE!" He
came running out and went to my brothers room to look and my parents were already up there
trying to put it out. 9:53pm: I unlocked my phone and dialed "911". I told them what happened
and I freaking out, I didn't know what to do; I was it a state of shock. The operator on the phone
told me to go outside so I went outside with my

Essay On The Fire
Growing up there were two buildings that caught fire along our block on the same side just four
doors down in each direction. Both occurred at night displacing families that saw the buildings
boarded up with fresh plywood that never quite did cover all the black tinge of the flames that tore
through the windows.
It stayed that way for some time accompanied by that exclusive and ever–present burnt odor that
wafted through the neighborhood reminding everyone of the destructive force of fire. For a young
boy, it was intimidating and made the prayer that surrounded the light switch to my bedroom all the
more significant: "Bless this house oh Lord I pray, make it safe through night and day."
At some point every summer, the western United...show more content...
Militant environmentalists armed with a plethora of lawsuits have been the log jam that has
prevented loggers from our nation's woodlands. Without appropriate logging management in place,
forests become overgrown and destabilized and when faced with the deadly duo of drought and
lightning strikes, woodlands become susceptible to igniting into towering infernos.
Federal firefighters are often successful in knocking down these conflagrations and throughout the
years have become victims of their own success as much biomass underbrush has not only remained,
but multiplied. All that does is become the kindling for the next, inescapable bout of forest fire.
For more than a century, the standing federal policy has been to extinguish all fires. Let it burn is
completely left out of the equation. In fact, such thinking is an anathema to any seasoned firefighter.
According to one longtime, prominent fire official, Greg Fabrizo of Coal Township, PA, "a
controlled fire can be the most capable and cost–effective means available for managing woodlands."
If the federal government had allowed a place like Yellowstone to have contained burns when fire
does irrupt, they would have avoided their biblical–like conflagration that provided so much
destruction back in 1990.
Let it burn should be law. Healthy forests need to burn on a semi–regular basis. If they don't, they
are nothing but firestorms in waiting.

Fire Prevention Essay
Fire prevention is a term being heard more and more today in America. It is starting to become a
standard in today's fire departments. Fire has the ability to keep us warm and also has the ability
to make us homeless. As we grow as community and the technology changes, Fire Prevention needs
to be made more of a necessity in our homes today. More homes are being built out of lighter
material along with being built closer and closer together. Each can lead to extreme destruction,
homes being lost, people being displaced, and even death. Why should we not protect homes and
defend them against an enemy that can attack at any minute? Fire prevention needs to start in the
home and then be carried onward in our lives. There are very...show more content...
Today we have moved beyond young men in street rattling wooden noise makers, technology has
given us a new kind of fire alarm. There are 2 main kinds of fire alarms: ionization and
photoelectric. Ionization alarms sound more quickly when a flaming, fast moving fire occurs,
photoelectric alarms are quicker at sensing smoldering, smoky fires. There are also combination
smoke alarms that combine ionization and photoelectric into one unit, called dual sensor smoke
alarms. Most of the fire alarms are powered by batteries which in order for the alarm to work, need
to changed regularly. They provide early detection, and thus warning, of the fire. But they take no
action on the fire itself.
Wet stuff on the Red stuff Something that was introduced in commercial buildings and places of
large quantities of people, have made their way into our homes. Fire sprinklers are being installed
into residential buildings as a normal item. In a report by The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition,
sprinklers typically reduce chances of dying in a fire and the average property loss by one–half to
two–thirds compared to where sprinklers are not present. The same website notes that if both fire
alarms and fire sprinkler are installed in a

Essay on The Fire Station
I was sitting at my dinner table and suddenly the TV program was erupted in with an irritating noise.
An announcment ran across the bottom of the TV screen, "There will be a fire meeting tonight,
7:30." I quickly finish my supper and head into town.
I turn my engine off and got out of my car. I walk up the cement ramp towards the door of the
metal–sided fire station. The steel door is cold and I carefully enter the door lock's code and turn the
reluctant knob. The room is dark and I blindly reach around the corner and hit the light switch.
Instantly the buzzing light of fluorescent bulbs fills the room. My nostrils also fill but with the smell
of machines. Slowly as I walk further into the station, I can feel the loose grit and sand...show more

On the other side of the tanker there is a part of the station that is yet dark.
Once again, I reach around blindly to shed light on this darkness. This part of the station is
comprised of four sections: a parking area, a tool room, a desk area, and another area where more
uniforms hang. There is a bright yellow rig with a boxlike tank on the back. Between the cab and
the tank is a confusing network of pipes and tubes. Accessing the next bay door, a long classic style
fire truck is parked. Overshadowing it is a larger square faced, personnel carrying, water–pumping
truck. Not only great in size, this monster is beautifully designed. The tool room, at the opposing
side of the large bay doors, consists of a workbench covered with assorted tools, fire
extinguishers, and rags. Along the same end of the station, there is a lone desk. A large radio and
fax machine takes up most of its space, but odd papers and equipment fill the rest. It serves little
function other than a table to place clutter and make the person seated there feel important. Behind
the desk chair there is a seating area, a black vinyl bench. The dark colors gladly disguise the grime
that it holds. Along the sides, old stingy wallpaper is adhered. Behind this bench there are more
protective clothes. Supposedly, the leading firefighters hang their gear here. Their gear being
surprisingly clean, I question whether they are truly leaders or not. Adjacent to the shelves and racks

Personal Metaphor Writing Assignment
Fire is one of the few elements that does not exist in a natural state. In order to exist it must
consume, transforming matter and changing the world. It is unforgiving and resolute in its effort
to grow larger, and burns with intensity and passion. I am fire. In pursuing my goals I can be
relentless, perhaps to the point of disillusion. Such relentless spirit is fueled with zeal, a "fire" that
one has to be careful not to put out. It is due to these qualities that I am akin to flame, qualities I
will further explain over the course of this essay.
By nature, fire is aggressive and relentless. It is hot, spreads rapidly, and before you know it you
have a blazing inferno on your hands. I am not aggressive in the sense that I enjoy fighting (though
perhaps that's not entirely true as I do wrestle and box), but in that I am relentless in pursuing my
goals. To be relentless does not mean to neverwant to give up, to not feel fear or doubt; to be
relentless is to continue onward despite those pressures, despite failure. I have failed many times
in my life already, and will undoubtedly have many more failures as time progresses. In spite of
this, for each of those failures lies either a success or a lesson, and so I do not fear failing again. I
will surely not enjoy it, but I will not fear it. Once you have failed there is nowhere to go but up.
For example, very recently I had a wrestling tournament where I did not do as well as I would
have liked to. I let my nerves get to me, and they drastically affected my performance. While I
would have loved to have done better, I now understand what I need to work on and what I will
work on to do better in the future. Winning gold at a tournament is always a great feeling, but I do
not learn as much from those successes. Failure is what allows me to grow and have the success I
seek. It is in my nature to not give up that I am fire, working with effort to keep myself ablaze.
Fire, in its effort to spread and conflagrate, can become its own undoing. It may spread itself too
thin and thus putter out. I find that in wanting to try and have new experiences and generally
improve as a person, I often spread myself too thin. I have a habit of

My Experience At The Fire
I did my usual mirror check before going downstairs. I could hear my housemates moving around
in the kitchen. I was wearing a pair of tank tops, white and red with blue silk jogging shorts and a
long blue blouse. It was both strange and yet kind of great to have renters I decided. I had friends
for the first time since I left college and honestly I hadn 't been looking. I saw my old party girl
friends from school a couple of times a year and that had always been fine with me. After the
firemen visited I had kept running into them in the little town, or on their patrols during fire season
becoming friends with several. Since most of the forest fire positions were seasonal many rotated

Are you guys ready to tell me what you have planned for Halloween yet?" They had been very
secretive about their holiday plans. They shared a look and a grin. I scooped some fried potatoes,
bacon and eggs on to my plate and took two pieces of toast. I was going to work out today so why
not. "I guess we can tell you some of it. A lot of it is a surprise." That alone was a surprise. "A
surprise, for me, seriously?" They both nodded and Bob poured me a glass of orange juice. "You

you never did the traditional trick or treating right?" Jack asked. I shook my head since I had a
mouthful of eggs. "We find that tragic, so we are going to give you the chance. Considering the
little town, we decided to keep it in the house. I mean, honestly, this is a big fucking house."
Fortunately I had swallowed my food so laughing didn 't choke me. "Ok, so I get to trick or treat
for candy in my own house?" Bob nodded. "Yep, well, kind of. We can 't tell you too much, but
you will tour the house after we have properly decorated it. Oh, and we have some costumes for
you. Each room has a different theme." I should have known. If it wasn 't elaborate these guys

To Build a Fire
To Build a Fire The short story "To build a Fire" by Jack London, tells about the relationship
between man and nature. The story takes place in the Yukon during one of the long night. The
main character who is unnamed travels with a dog along a small trail to a mining camp. The man
leaves against the advice of a local and after a short time realizes that he should have waited. The
temperature is extremely cold because the mans spit freezes before it hits the ground. The main
obstacle of his journey is the many covered springs that mean death to whoever falls into them. The
man sends his dog in front of him to make sure that the trail is safe. Eventually the dog falls into one
of the springs and gets his paws wet. Immediate, acting...show more content...
At first he though that it was only a small problem and the cold might cost him a couple of
fingers, but towards the end he realized that it was his life that he was fighting for. When the fire
failed the second time he became desperate. "He remembered the tale of the man, caught in a
blizzard, who killed a steer and crawled inside his carcass, and so was saved." This "put a wild
idea into his head," "He would kill the dog and bury in the warm body until the numbness went
out of them." When the man failed to kill the dog "A certain fear of death, dull and oppressive,
came over him." He began to panic and run blindly to the camp. Although he knew he lacked the
endurance he drove forward until collapsing for the final time. Once again he saw the warm dog
and became angry and envious of his warmth. Eventually he sat up and decided to meet "death
with dignity." After he accepts his death he has an out of body experience, and then "drowsed off
into what seemed to him the most comfortable and satisfying sleep that he had ever known." The
story shows that nature is stronger than man. Animal's live a lot closer to their habitat than we do
and therefore have a more intricate understanding of it. The man should have listened to the old
man, or noticed the signs that his dog was giving. The story also shows that nature is random, it
doesn't choose who will live and die. I think that this story is a perfect example of naturalism,
because it contains all of the

Essay My House Was Destroyed by Fire
December came quietly that year, not blinding us with a blanket of snow, but creeping through
the landscape with a cold that ached in the bones. Every blade of grass was held captive by a
sheath of frost, as were the glacial branches that scraped at my windows, begging to get in. It is
indeed the coldest year I can remember, with winds like barbs that caught and pulled at my skin.
People ceaselessly searched for warmth, but my family found that this year, the warmth was
searching for us.
My family had collected in the basement, a testament to tacky dГ©cor with a dash of dank– ness.
Nevertheless, it was easily the warmest place in the house and all household activities were being
conducted there that day. My dad was trying to...show more content...
"Kids! The house is on fire! Get out, now!" he barked. I am hardly a fast runner, but I think I rivaled
the pace of those December winds as I grabbed my brother and fled up the stairs.
The nearest exit was the front door, and at first glance it seemed free of flames. My brother ran to
the door first, and I watched him vanish into the safety of the outdoors with some relief. I
followed, but before I stepped outside I turned my head to glance up to the third floor where I
assumed the fire was. Enormous coils of flames crawled along the banisters, up the walls, and over
the ceiling like fervent boa constrictors. I yelped at the very sight of it, tearing myself from the fire's
hypnosis and into the night.
The family in its entirety collected in front of the house, and then without words disunited in
different directions in search of help. Smoke drifted from underneath the roof, causing my dog to
sniff the air and look around, quite confused. The fire truck arrived only to discover there was not
a hydrant within reach, and a large pool of water was brought by another fire truck minutes later.
The firefighters entered my house with hoses and axes, and neighbors, drawn by the flashing
lights, began to collect outside. My friends tried to quell me when the firefighters axed my window,
sending shards of glass twinkling to the ground and allowing clouds of smoke to escape my room
like puffs from a giant cigarette.
It took nearly two hours to conquer the flames and

Upon The Burning Of Our House Essay
Both of the poems "The Flesh and the Spirit" and "Upon the Burning of Our House" by Bradsheet
reflects the vision of Puritanism. In the poem "The Flesh and the Spirit"; she personifies Flesh
and Spirit having their own view towards the meaning of life. Here, Flesh is more concentrated
towards the materialistic possessions whereas Spirit on the other hand, values and looks forward
to deeper meaning towards the life. Similarly, "Upon the Burning of Our House" simply talks
about the realization that all worldly possessions turn to dust and real treasures lie above all such
worldly possessions. Brad sheet's both poems hail about the power of faith, spirituality and the
world beyond. In "The Flesh and the Spirit" where a spirit is talking in the

Theology Having my house on fire, or having a ceremony/ritual both have great meaning, one in a
bad way and the other in a good. Sometimes in life there will be great, amazing times that will be
unforgettable, but sadly, there will also be awful, life changing events too that can take a mental

good times and there are bad times that is why you have to make the best of every single situation

other object is more valuable then a picture of all of us together. I love my family more then
anything in this world and honestly I would die to get just that one picture of us. I would be able
to look at it every day and I could play all the exciting times over and over again in my head, that
would be more meaningful then anything. Although a picture does not seem like a lot it is
because it has a great meaning, it is a pastime. My next item would be my stuffed animal, a white

reminds me of all my childhood memories. I took it everywhere, whether it be to go to the beach,

Essay about Morning in the Burned House
Morning in the Burned House
Margaret Atwood
"Bare child's feet on the scorched floorboards
(I can almost see)
In my burning clothes, the thin green shorts
And grubby yellow T–shirt
Holding my cindery, non–existent,
Radiant flesh. Incandescent."
Morning in the Burned House by Margaret Atwood is a poem describing the mind of a burned house
and of how it is tormented by pain and evil; and yet, in the midst of this darkness, there is light to
guide the soul of the house to safety and into a world of peace and forgiveness. The two stanzas
chosen for this analysis are the final two stanzas, in which pain and peace are both shown in
different perspectives.
"Bare child's feet on the scorched floorboards" is metaphorically showing...show more content...
The house is attempting to show its happiness and get over the pain of being burnt and left behind,
and yet, in its "protective shell" there are cracks that grow into crevices over time.
"Holding my cindery, non–existent, radiant flesh" The house's soul is explaining how these bright
colors, though just the outer layer of this house, it holds the real "house" together, just like the other
parts of the house mentioned in the poem such as the spoon, the dishes, and the kettle hold the
house together, to keep the house's mind from collapse and defeat. The flesh is radiant means the
core of the house; the "mind" of the house is still safe, still pure and unsoiled by evil.
"Incandescent" This final word of the poem summarizes the whole poem into one word. This one
word describes all the positive thoughts, hopes, memories, and wishes of this devastated house, how
even at the worst moments and after the tragedy, there is still something good within the house. It
represents the goodness of this house, and what it has learned from suffering. But, the word
incandescent also represents evil and suffering, because the fire that ruined this house was bright and
hot. The fire showed all what pain had done to this house, showed its true feelings. Therefore,
incandescent is what completes this poem; it shows both sides of the house's mind and soul, how it
is tortured, and yet, it is still protected by hope. Without incandescence, there would be no fire, and

Importance of Fire Safety in Building
A sound knowledge of building construction is essential for every fire & safety engineer, as is an
understanding of the principles of structural fire protection. This knowledge with the experience
gained on the fire ground will enable him to assess how building will behave when involved in fire.
The construction of building and the degree of fire protection built into the structure have important
bearings on all aspects of fire service functions, be it carrying out rescue of fires, adopting effective
firefighting methods, assessing means of escapes requirements or recommendations on fire safety in
the buildings.
Effective fire safe design begins with conscious analysis and decision–making early in the design
process. The architectural design of a building has a significant influence on its fire safety
capabilities and performance. In addition to the design of the structure and shell of the building
itself, the interior layout, circulation patterns, interior finish materials, and building services are all
important factors in the parameter of fire safety in the buildings.
The primary concept of creating fire safety in structures today involves the philosophy that the
building itself must be designed to be either self–protecting or self–controlling from fire and fire
spread. This is particularly important as buildings become more complex and exhibit features that
are contradictory to fire department operation. A building should not be

A dark, smoggy night in the middle of winter, chills were running through the rooms of the house,
like a ghost silently coming and silently going. Suddenly, in the distance, there was a faint

louder until all that could be heard was the deafening noise. People from houses along the street ran

Even though the land itself had been severely damaged, the natural daily events started without
delay. Birds were twittering and singing with the voices of angels, filling the air with the sweet
sound of nature. They flew around, rooftop to rooftop at amazing speeds. Their feathers ruffled
slightly in the breeze and, quite often, they sprung around on their tiny, diminutive feet on the lawns
of people, living in the area, searching around for any traces of food for their breakfast.
The staleness of the winter air had slowly begun to fade away as the gentle wind carried it away
with the smoke. The sun had now fully risen revealing all of its beauty. The hills and moors all shone
with the intense sunlight and all the living things in the area woke up to the new day. The horses
trotted out of their stables and galloped around the field, like an early morning ritual.
The victims of the tragedy also eventually woke up, still with the looks of utter disbelief and dismay

Persuasive Essay On How To Build A Fire
Have you ever went camping with friends or family and admired the welcoming campfires that
were built? Roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or just sitting and absorbing the nature around
you are just a few of the many enjoyable activities that can be done with a bonfire! However, what
may look like a simple set–up might be more complex than one would assume. In fact, there are
several steps a person should follow when constructing a campfire. Practicing these instructions can
not only lead to a more successful, thriving bonfire, but can also guide you to becoming more safe
and aware. When my dad taught me how to build a fire, it was an overall bonding experience. He
was patient with me through the many failed attempts and constantly reminded me that safety
was the most important factor. The skills that I learned from him will continue to come in handy
any time my friends or family want to gather around a campfire. The first step that is pretty
essential in building a campfire, that several people may overlook, is finding a suitable, safe
place to have one. If there is a fire ring that is already present, then even better. Try to look for an
open space away from buildings or other things that are easily flammable. Ask yourself a few
questions before you start: Are campfires allowed in this area? Are the weather conditions up to
par? (It shouldn't be too windy or rainy.) Is the site properly prepared? Lastly, do you have fire
safety equipment? Such as a fire extinguisher

Essay on The House is on Fire
Dee sees herself as an improvement of the life which she lived in her early childhood. She has
been educated and persuaded into more liberal ways of thinking than the "simple" life that her
sister and mother still reside in. The house was a symbol of oppression to Dee. She saw the house
as an anchor that kept her from evolving into a more independent and educated person. During the
fire, Dee watched this oppression burn to the ground, a perfect symbol of her being set free of the
simple way of life she wanted to leave.
B. Dee has been educated and is very beautiful, based on textual evidence. Dee's has high
confidence in her ability and knowledge of the world. This causes Dee to be confident in
"disastrous" situations. She feels...show more content...
Ironically, while at college Dee picked up a love for heritage and her African roots. So, on her
return home she demanded a quilt that held many scraps of cloth that represented her family's past.
Even though, she had refused them like they were worthless before.
2. 2. During this time in America, the world was starting to become more open. People started
looking at people for their beautiful heritage, and not their skin color. Dee found a new love for her
African heritage while at college, and most likely from this Hakim character she is with. She has
changed her name and style to more suit the style of the African people. Hakim, has also adopted
this way of thinking. America was becoming more diverse and mixing ideas of different people.
The "beef cattle people" were most likely Middle Eastern. The country was starting to diversify, and
people were bringing their proud heritage and sharing with others.
3. 3. The mother demonstrates a permanent change of character when she refuses to give the
quilts to Dee. Throughout the story, Dee is referred to highly because of her education. She is
seen almost superior to Maggie in every aspect. The mother feels inferior to her in a way as well.
However, when the mother refuses the quilts to Dee it contradicts the way Dee's life has occurred
up to this point. Dee always got her way, but now the mother refuses to let her to keep a promise to
Maggie. She knows that Maggie

A House On Fire Essay

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On A Fire Attributes of Fire It was a bright and sunny day in mid–July, not a cloud in sight. I could feel the intense heat against the back of my neck as I rode my bike along a remote mountain trail with my friend entail. We were heading back towards the campgrounds after a long day of fun and adventure. As the beautiful sun set across the horizon I realized that with the setting of the sun came the end to a long day full of energy and livelihood. The very sun that made me sweat earlier that day gave me the the ability to see and experience my surroundings. The light from the sun granted me the ability to see where I was going on my bike, as it allows everyone to go about their daily lives with little to no thought whatsoever. After the sun had set my stomach began to rumble, signalling that dinner time was fast approaching. That night we made a campfire and whipped up some good ol' fashion hot dogs. As I was eating my hot dog I wondered, why is it that meat must be cooked? Looking at it now, I know that it has to do with the fact that food is easier to digest when cooked and that humans have evolved to the point where we need cooked food in order to gain more energy. As hours passed by the sunny summer day became a sheer cold night. The only thing that was keeping all of us warm was the heat being emitted from the campfire. The campfire brought the whole family together. Many scary as well as funny stories were told that night. It was not until years later that I realized that a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay On The Fire Footsteps Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha was one of the civilians that was killed by the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the swinging bridge. The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest of his body within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of the fire, but his attempts failed. He decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis James Tacha's body was never found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to make others disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be forgotten. The few survivors of the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on that cool summer night. Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen–year–old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an all–girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement as she places her last few shirts into her over–filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the camp, she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, "Camp Rio." All around her, counselors and campers radiate with joy. No one seems to be vexed that sky is dim from clouds hovering over the earth. It was now Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Terrace House Fire Essay Following the tragic event of the great fire of London in 1666, the legislation regarding new buildings in the metropolis became stricter and several laws and measures addressed fire prevention issues. Many of these guidelines were changed several times over the years following various building acts. Apart from the obvious benefits on fire protection, the legislation formed to a large extent the streetscapes and vistas in the neighbourhoods of the capital and other cities in the 18th and 19th centuries onwards. Building acts and by–laws did not just deal with structural issues; on the contrary they were often mostly focused on health and sanitation issues that were vital in the Victorian period. Ensuring more available free spaces, decent living conditions, constructions of good quality, ventilation and natural lighting were very significant issues that were not considered as given at the time. Features that appear to be typical for terrace houses came as a result of different chapters in building acts and also appear for the two case studies we will be examining in the next chapters. In order to describe just a few main defining characteristics and details...show more content... Dividing walls between neighbouring properties, along with their obvious separating function, provided a fire protection panel preventing potential spreading of the flames in fire emergencies. Specific details are described for the party walls; in the building act of 1894, the height of the parapets above the roof is specified to be minimum 15" measured at right angles to the slope, a guideline which would remain valid until 1914. Avoiding continuous timber roof structures was a key issue and can be identified also in earlier Acts and By–Laws, while the party wall should corbel out when eaves project from the face of the building to the full extent of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. A Report On The Fire INTRODUCTION This is a report compiled by Musawenkosi Nkabinde a student at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University while conducting practicals in the kingdom of Swaziland at a company called Montigny Forest Products. It is a company of about plus minus 75 000 hacters where a variety of species are planted e.g. Pinus elliote, Patula, Taeda, Pexq, Eucalyptus Smithii, dannai etc. All these are planted for different products dominating one being the production of planks which means the company keeps many of its trees for many years till they mature. The main purpose of this report is to give clarity on the fire, to determine the origin, determine causes of the fire, damages caused by the fire and to develop ideas on how can unwanted fires like these can be prevented from reoccurring in our plantations like the one occurred in compartment C22 on the17 of JULY 2015 at 17:00pm till 23:00pm. A number of plus minus 600 pinus Elliote trees were affected by this fire. HISTORY OF THE AREA It had been known for years that the belt dividing C22 and C14 has a problem with smoldering materials, usually when that belt is burnt a tanker and two labourers are left behind extinguishing the smoldering woods ensuring nothing lights up, but on this day the tanker had a breakdown two days ago so it was unavailable and the was no other resource to take up its place it. Nearby these compartments are wattle jungles which are always feared when burning fire belts knowing that once they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay On The Fire The Fire It was a chilly Wednesday morning on January 11th. When I woke up that morning, I would have never expected something so tragic to happen that night. I can remember it like it was yesterday. 9:30pm: I was was watching Roman Atwood's vlog called "We are in trouble" and the video was just ending and I was about to turn on the shower. That's when I heard loud bangs from my brothers room. I thought my brother and my dad were fighting so I was about to walk out of my door into hallway when my brother come running through our jack n jill bathroom. He comes running into my room and into the hallway naked. Yes I was very shocked also, I looked at his hand and saw little pieces of skin hanging from it and then saw that his stomach, chest and right are was also burnt. He ran to our guest room and grabbed the fire extinguisher but sadly that was old and wouldn't work. 9:40pm: I went to the balcony that overlooks the family room and I yelled "TRENT'S ROOM IS ON FIRE" five times. I ran back to get my brother and grab a pair of basketball shorts for him. 9:50pm: I ran into my grandpa's room and told him also " TRENT'S ROOM IS ON FIRE!" He came running out and went to my brothers room to look and my parents were already up there trying to put it out. 9:53pm: I unlocked my phone and dialed "911". I told them what happened and I freaking out, I didn't know what to do; I was it a state of shock. • 6. Essay On The Fire Growing up there were two buildings that caught fire along our block on the same side just four doors down in each direction. Both occurred at night displacing families that saw the buildings boarded up with fresh plywood that never quite did cover all the black tinge of the flames that tore through the windows. It stayed that way for some time accompanied by that exclusive and ever–present burnt odor that wafted through the neighborhood reminding everyone of the destructive force of fire. For a young boy, it was intimidating and made the prayer that surrounded the light switch to my bedroom all the more significant: "Bless this house oh Lord I pray, make it safe through night and day." At some point every summer, the western United...show more content... Militant environmentalists armed with a plethora of lawsuits have been the log jam that has prevented loggers from our nation's woodlands. Without appropriate logging management in place, forests become overgrown and destabilized and when faced with the deadly duo of drought and lightning strikes, woodlands become susceptible to igniting into towering infernos. Federal firefighters are often successful in knocking down these conflagrations and throughout the years have become victims of their own success as much biomass underbrush has not only remained, but multiplied. All that does is become the kindling for the next, inescapable bout of forest fire. For more than a century, the standing federal policy has been to extinguish all fires. Let it burn is completely left out of the equation. In fact, such thinking is an anathema to any seasoned firefighter. According to one longtime, prominent fire official, Greg Fabrizo of Coal Township, PA, "a controlled fire can be the most capable and cost–effective means available for managing woodlands." If the federal government had allowed a place like Yellowstone to have contained burns when fire does irrupt, they would have avoided their biblical–like conflagration that provided so much destruction back in 1990. Let it burn should be law. Healthy forests need to burn on a semi–regular basis. If they don't, they are nothing but firestorms in waiting. No one out west wants a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Fire Prevention Essay Fire prevention is a term being heard more and more today in America. It is starting to become a standard in today's fire departments. Fire has the ability to keep us warm and also has the ability to make us homeless. As we grow as community and the technology changes, Fire Prevention needs to be made more of a necessity in our homes today. More homes are being built out of lighter material along with being built closer and closer together. Each can lead to extreme destruction, homes being lost, people being displaced, and even death. Why should we not protect homes and defend them against an enemy that can attack at any minute? Fire prevention needs to start in the home and then be carried onward in our lives. There are very...show more content... Today we have moved beyond young men in street rattling wooden noise makers, technology has given us a new kind of fire alarm. There are 2 main kinds of fire alarms: ionization and photoelectric. Ionization alarms sound more quickly when a flaming, fast moving fire occurs, photoelectric alarms are quicker at sensing smoldering, smoky fires. There are also combination smoke alarms that combine ionization and photoelectric into one unit, called dual sensor smoke alarms. Most of the fire alarms are powered by batteries which in order for the alarm to work, need to changed regularly. They provide early detection, and thus warning, of the fire. But they take no action on the fire itself. Wet stuff on the Red stuff Something that was introduced in commercial buildings and places of large quantities of people, have made their way into our homes. Fire sprinklers are being installed into residential buildings as a normal item. In a report by The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, sprinklers typically reduce chances of dying in a fire and the average property loss by one–half to two–thirds compared to where sprinklers are not present. • 8. Essay on The Fire Station I was sitting at my dinner table and suddenly the TV program was erupted in with an irritating noise. An announcment ran across the bottom of the TV screen, "There will be a fire meeting tonight, 7:30." I quickly finish my supper and head into town. I turn my engine off and got out of my car. I walk up the cement ramp towards the door of the metal–sided fire station. The steel door is cold and I carefully enter the door lock's code and turn the reluctant knob. The room is dark and I blindly reach around the corner and hit the light switch. Instantly the buzzing light of fluorescent bulbs fills the room. My nostrils also fill but with the smell of machines. Once again, I reach around blindly to shed light on this darkness. This part of the station is comprised of four sections: a parking area, a tool room, a desk area, and another area where more uniforms hang. There is a bright yellow rig with a boxlike tank on the back. Between the cab and the tank is a confusing network of pipes and tubes. Accessing the next bay door, a long classic style fire truck is parked. Overshadowing it is a larger square faced, personnel carrying, water–pumping truck. Not only great in size, this monster is beautifully designed. The tool room, at the opposing side of the large bay doors, consists of a workbench covered with assorted tools, fire extinguishers, and rags. Along the same end of the station, there is a lone desk. A large radio and fax machine takes up most of its space, but odd papers and equipment fill the rest. It serves little function other than a table to place clutter and make the person seated there feel important. Behind the desk chair there is a seating area, a black vinyl bench. The dark colors gladly disguise the grime that it holds. Along the sides, old stingy wallpaper is adhered. Behind this bench there are more protective clothes. Supposedly, the leading firefighters hang their gear here. Their gear being surprisingly clean, I question whether they are truly leaders or not. • 9. Descriptive Essay On Fire Personal Metaphor Writing Assignment Fire is one of the few elements that does not exist in a natural state. In order to exist it must consume, transforming matter and changing the world. It is unforgiving and resolute in its effort to grow larger, and burns with intensity and passion. I am fire. In pursuing my goals I can be relentless, perhaps to the point of disillusion. Such relentless spirit is fueled with zeal, a "fire" that one has to be careful not to put out. It is due to these qualities that I am akin to flame, qualities I will further explain over the course of this essay. By nature, fire is aggressive and relentless. It is hot, spreads rapidly, and before you know it you have a blazing inferno on your hands. I am not aggressive in the sense that I enjoy fighting (though perhaps that's not entirely true as I do wrestle and box), but in that I am relentless in pursuing my goals. To be relentless does not mean to neverwant to give up, to not feel fear or doubt; to be relentless is to continue onward despite those pressures, despite failure. I have failed many times in my life already, and will undoubtedly have many more failures as time progresses. In spite of this, for each of those failures lies either a success or a lesson, and so I do not fear failing again. I will surely not enjoy it, but I will not fear it. Once you have failed there is nowhere to go but up. For example, very recently I had a wrestling tournament where I did not do as well as I would have liked to. I let my nerves get to me, and they drastically affected my performance. While I would have loved to have done better, I now understand what I need to work on and what I will work on to do better in the future. Winning gold at a tournament is always a great feeling, but I do not learn as much from those successes. Failure is what allows me to grow and have the success I seek. It is in my nature to not give up that I am fire, working with effort to keep myself ablaze. Fire, in its effort to spread and conflagrate, can become its own undoing. It may spread itself too thin and thus putter out. I find that in wanting to try and have new experiences and generally improve as a person, I often spread myself too thin. I have a habit of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I had friends for the first time since I left college and honestly I hadn 't been looking. I saw my old party girl friends from school a couple of times a year and that had always been fine with me. We are friends and as such we need to show you what Halloween is all about. You said you never did the traditional trick or treating right?" Jack asked. I shook my head since I had a mouthful of eggs. "We find that tragic, so we are going to give you the chance. Considering the little town, we decided to keep it in the house. I mean, honestly, this is a big fucking house." Fortunately I had swallowed my food so laughing didn 't choke me. "Ok, so I get to trick or treat for candy in my own house?" Bob nodded. "Yep, well, kind of. We can 't tell you too much, but you will tour the house after we have properly decorated it. Oh, and we have some costumes for you. Each room has a different theme." I should have known. If it wasn 't elaborate these guys were not into it. "So you are picking the costumes and then I go trick or treating, kind of. Are you guys the treat or the trick?" I asked mischievously as I folded toast around a piece of bacon. Jack answered as Bob laughed. "Both. Do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. To Build a Fire To Build a Fire The short story "To build a Fire" by Jack London, tells about the relationship between man and nature. The story takes place in the Yukon during one of the long night. The main character who is unnamed travels with a dog along a small trail to a mining camp. The man leaves against the advice of a local and after a short time realizes that he should have waited. The temperature is extremely cold because the mans spit freezes before it hits the ground. The main obstacle of his journey is the many covered springs that mean death to whoever falls into them. The man sends his dog in front of him to make sure that the trail is safe. Eventually the dog falls into one of the springs and gets his paws wet. Immediate, acting...show more content... At first he though that it was only a small problem and the cold might cost him a couple of fingers, but towards the end he realized that it was his life that he was fighting for. When the fire failed the second time he became desperate. "He remembered the tale of the man, caught in a blizzard, who killed a steer and crawled inside his carcass, and so was saved." This "put a wild idea into his head," "He would kill the dog and bury in the warm body until the numbness went out of them." When the man failed to kill the dog "A certain fear of death, dull and oppressive, came over him." He began to panic and run blindly to the camp. Although he knew he lacked the endurance he drove forward until collapsing for the final time. Once again he saw the warm dog and became angry and envious of his warmth. Eventually he sat up and decided to meet "death with dignity." After he accepts his death he has an out of body experience, and then "drowsed off into what seemed to him the most comfortable and satisfying sleep that he had ever known." The story shows that nature is stronger than man. Animal's live a lot closer to their habitat than we do and therefore have a more intricate understanding of it. The man should have listened to the old man, or noticed the signs that his dog was giving. The story also shows that nature is random, it doesn't choose who will live and die. I think that this story is a perfect example of naturalism, because it contains all of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay My House Was Destroyed by Fire December came quietly that year, not blinding us with a blanket of snow, but creeping through the landscape with a cold that ached in the bones. Every blade of grass was held captive by a sheath of frost, as were the glacial branches that scraped at my windows, begging to get in. It is indeed the coldest year I can remember, with winds like barbs that caught and pulled at my skin. People ceaselessly searched for warmth, but my family found that this year, the warmth was searching for us. My family had collected in the basement, a testament to tacky dГ©cor with a dash of dank– ness. Nevertheless, it was easily the warmest place in the house and all household activities were being conducted there that day. My dad was trying to...show more content... "Kids! The house is on fire! Get out, now!" he barked. I am hardly a fast runner, but I think I rivaled the pace of those December winds as I grabbed my brother and fled up the stairs. The nearest exit was the front door, and at first glance it seemed free of flames. My brother ran to the door first, and I watched him vanish into the safety of the outdoors with some relief. I followed, but before I stepped outside I turned my head to glance up to the third floor where I assumed the fire was. Enormous coils of flames crawled along the banisters, up the walls, and over the ceiling like fervent boa constrictors. I yelped at the very sight of it, tearing myself from the fire's hypnosis and into the night. The family in its entirety collected in front of the house, and then without words disunited in different directions in search of help. Smoke drifted from underneath the roof, causing my dog to sniff the air and look around, quite confused. The fire truck arrived only to discover there was not a hydrant within reach, and a large pool of water was brought by another fire truck minutes later. The firefighters entered my house with hoses and axes, and neighbors, drawn by the flashing lights, began to collect outside. My friends tried to quell me when the firefighters axed my window, sending shards of glass twinkling to the ground and allowing clouds of smoke to escape my room like puffs from a giant cigarette. It took nearly two hours to conquer the flames and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Upon The Burning Of Our House Essay Both of the poems "The Flesh and the Spirit" and "Upon the Burning of Our House" by Bradsheet reflects the vision of Puritanism. In the poem "The Flesh and the Spirit"; she personifies Flesh and Spirit having their own view towards the meaning of life. Here, Flesh is more concentrated towards the materialistic possessions whereas Spirit on the other hand, values and looks forward to deeper meaning towards the life. Similarly, "Upon the Burning of Our House" simply talks about the realization that all worldly possessions turn to dust and real treasures lie above all such worldly possessions. Brad sheet's both poems hail about the power of faith, spirituality and the world beyond. In "The Flesh and the Spirit" where a spirit is talking in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Sometimes in life there will be great, amazing times that will be unforgettable, but sadly, there will also be awful, life changing events too that can take a mental toll on the body and also take away the place were those memories were made. In life there are good times and there are bad times that is why you have to make the best of every single situation because you never know what is going to happen. I have so many great things from medals, to trophies, to pictures and so much more but I can not take it all. So, my first object would probably have to be my family picture. This is very important to me because it has a lot of memories attached to it. My family means the world to me and no other object is more valuable then a picture of all of us together. I love my family more then anything in this world and honestly I would die to get just that one picture of us. I would be able to look at it every day and I could play all the exciting times over and over again in my head, that would be more meaningful then anything. Although a picture does not seem like a lot it is because it has a great meaning, it is a pastime. My next item would be my stuffed animal, a white lamb. I would take it because I have had it since I was a baby and it has a lot of value to me. It reminds me of all my childhood memories. I took it everywhere, whether it be to go to the beach, a restaurant or go out for dinner when I was little. It has a significant place in my heart and I would be saddened if anything happened to him. Finally, I would take my cross, on the wall in my room. Nothing is greater then God and I thank him every day for what I have. I have had the cross for a while and I love that one and do not know what I would do without Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Essay about Morning in the Burned House Morning in the Burned House Margaret Atwood "Bare child's feet on the scorched floorboards (I can almost see) In my burning clothes, the thin green shorts And grubby yellow T–shirt Holding my cindery, non–existent, Radiant flesh. Incandescent." Morning in the Burned House by Margaret Atwood is a poem describing the mind of a burned house and of how it is tormented by pain and evil; and yet, in the midst of this darkness, there is light to guide the soul of the house to safety and into a world of peace and forgiveness. The two stanzas chosen for this analysis are the final two stanzas, in which pain and peace are both shown in different perspectives. "Bare child's feet on the scorched floorboards" is metaphorically showing...show more content... The house is attempting to show its happiness and get over the pain of being burnt and left behind, and yet, in its "protective shell" there are cracks that grow into crevices over time. "Holding my cindery, non–existent, radiant flesh" The house's soul is explaining how these bright colors, though just the outer layer of this house, it holds the real "house" together, just like the other parts of the house mentioned in the poem such as the spoon, the dishes, and the kettle hold the house together, to keep the house's mind from collapse and defeat. The flesh is radiant means the core of the house; the "mind" of the house is still safe, still pure and unsoiled by evil. "Incandescent" This final word of the poem summarizes the whole poem into one word. This one word describes all the positive thoughts, hopes, memories, and wishes of this devastated house, how even at the worst moments and after the tragedy, there is still something good within the house. It represents the goodness of this house, and what it has learned from suffering. But, the word incandescent also represents evil and suffering, because the fire that ruined this house was bright and hot. The fire showed all what pain had done to this house, showed its true feelings. Therefore, incandescent is what completes this poem; it shows both sides of the house's mind and soul, how it is tortured, and yet, it is still protected by hope. Without incandescence, there would be no fire, and without Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Importance of Fire Safety in Building A sound knowledge of building construction is essential for every fire & safety engineer, as is an understanding of the principles of structural fire protection. This knowledge with the experience gained on the fire ground will enable him to assess how building will behave when involved in fire. The construction of building and the degree of fire protection built into the structure have important bearings on all aspects of fire service functions, be it carrying out rescue of fires, adopting effective firefighting methods, assessing means of escapes requirements or recommendations on fire safety in the buildings. Effective fire safe design begins with conscious analysis and decision–making early in the design process. The architectural design of a building has a significant influence on its fire safety capabilities and performance. In addition to the design of the structure and shell of the building itself, the interior layout, circulation patterns, interior finish materials, and building services are all important factors in the parameter of fire safety in the buildings. The primary concept of creating fire safety in structures today involves the philosophy that the building itself must be designed to be either self–protecting or self–controlling from fire and fire spread. This is particularly important as buildings become more complex and exhibit features that are contradictory to fire department operation. A building should not be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. The Fire Essay A dark, smoggy night in the middle of winter, chills were running through the rooms of the house, like a ghost silently coming and silently going. Suddenly, in the distance, there was a faint booming sound like a drum being beaten. The noise soon started to get louder and louder and louder until all that could be heard was the deafening noise. People from houses along the street ran out in their dressing gowns onto the road and huddled together to witness a roaring fire devastating the house of a family living nearby. The owners of the house desperately attempted to remove valuable and sentimental items from the burning wreck, but all was in vain as the glaring fire obliterated their irreplaceable...show more content... Instead, the entire family lay curled up on the dew–topped grass, huddled together, shivering in the frosty, winter wind. They had managed to get very few possessions out of the burning wreck, the night before, but the remainder of their belongings had burned away over the silent, yet lively night. Even though the land itself had been severely damaged, the natural daily events started without delay. Birds were twittering and singing with the voices of angels, filling the air with the sweet sound of nature. They flew around, rooftop to rooftop at amazing speeds. Their feathers ruffled slightly in the breeze and, quite often, they sprung around on their tiny, diminutive feet on the lawns of people, living in the area, searching around for any traces of food for their breakfast. The staleness of the winter air had slowly begun to fade away as the gentle wind carried it away with the smoke. The sun had now fully risen revealing all of its beauty. The hills and moors all shone with the intense sunlight and all the living things in the area woke up to the new day. The horses trotted out of their stables and galloped around the field, like an early morning ritual. The victims of the tragedy also eventually woke up, still with the looks of utter disbelief and dismay on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On How To Build A Fire Have you ever went camping with friends or family and admired the welcoming campfires that were built? Roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or just sitting and absorbing the nature around you are just a few of the many enjoyable activities that can be done with a bonfire! However, what may look like a simple set–up might be more complex than one would assume. In fact, there are several steps a person should follow when constructing a campfire. Practicing these instructions can not only lead to a more successful, thriving bonfire, but can also guide you to becoming more safe and aware. When my dad taught me how to build a fire, it was an overall bonding experience. He was patient with me through the many failed attempts and constantly reminded me that safety was the most important factor. The skills that I learned from him will continue to come in handy any time my friends or family want to gather around a campfire. The first step that is pretty essential in building a campfire, that several people may overlook, is finding a suitable, safe place to have one. If there is a fire ring that is already present, then even better. Try to look for an open space away from buildings or other things that are easily flammable. Ask yourself a few questions before you start: Are campfires allowed in this area? Are the weather conditions up to par? (It shouldn't be too windy or rainy.) Is the site properly prepared? Lastly, do you have fire safety equipment? Such as a fire extinguisher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
