1. THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
Armenia lies in the north-
eastern part of the
Armenian PLateau
between the Caucasus
and Asia Minor.
In the north and east,
Armenia borders upon
Georgia and Azerbaijan,
in the west and south-
upon Turkey and Iran.
2. HOSPITABLE ARMENIANS
Armenians are very
hospitable and friendly
people, but they are a little
bit hot-blooded, fiery-
tempered and loud speaking.
4. THE CLIMATE AND LANDSCAPE
Armenia is rich in mountains
and mountain chains.
The country’ s climate is
strictly continental
with four pronounced
seasons.
5. THE NATIONAL SYMBOLS OF ARMENIA
The flag of Armenia
is a symbol of the
country, its people
and its ideals.
The flag is
tricolour.The red
stands for the split
blood of Armenian
soldiers, present and
past.The blue stands
for the sky.The
orange stands for the
fertile land and the
farmers who work on
it.
The State Coat of Arms depicts Mount
Ararat with Noah's ark in the centre of the
shield and the coats of arms of the four
kingdoms of historical Armenia.The shield
is supported by a lion and an eagle.
7. Lake Sevan is called ‘ the emerald of
Armenia’. It constantly changes its
colour - from sky blue to turquoi se
green. Lake Sevan is located at an
altitude of 1.900 metre s above the
sea level. It is a freshwater lake.
8. YEREVAN
Yerevan is the capital of Armenia. It is one of the bigge st cities
in the South Caucasus.I It has a population of about one million
inhabitants.
9. THE MATENADARAN
The most important museum in Yerevan is the Matenadaran.It is a depository and
a research institute on ancient manuscripts.It is named after Mesrop Mashtots,
the creator of the Armenian alphabet.In number and value of manuscripts this
establishment is considered to be one of the world's oldest thousand foreign
manuscripts, and richest depositories.Currently it is in possession of more than 15
thousand Armenian and three thousand foreign manuscripts , fragments and
archive documents.
