• abbreviation Quick Response Code
• two-dimensional barcode
• first is designed for the automotive
industry in Japan 1994
• Denso Wave, the inventor of QR Code
• purpose: to track vehicles during
manufacturing

3. More about QR Codes…
• … consist of black (the most frequently used
colour) squares arranged in a square grid on a
white background
• … can be read using smartphones, tablets,
laptops and dedicated QR reading devices
• … link directly to articles, emails, websites, phone
numbers, videos, social media pages…
• You need a camera lens on your device and a QR
code scanning programme which can be
downloaded online for free as an app.

• High capacity encoding of data – capable of
handling several dozen to several hundred
times more information, can encode cca 3.000
alphanumeric characters

• Using at home (in our daily life) and at work
(various business purposes at factories and in
logistics operations)
• In 2012 QR Codes was awarded with a Good
Design Award, an award from a design
promotion initiative sponsored by the Japan
Institute of Design Promotion, a public
interest incorporated foundation.

direct and instantaneous access to the same
resource in class or at home.

• To create a QR code, you only need to copy
and paste data into your QR generating
software.
• Once you have produced your code, you can
then transfer it to your teaching resource, or
simply leave it on the interactive whiteboard
for students to scan in class.
