The document discusses the similarities between the creator's ancillary texts, specifically a digipack they created, and existing music products they drew inspiration from. It describes choosing shots from a video for the digipack cover to directly link to the video. Inspiration also came from Taylor Swift and Rihanna album packaging that featured clear themes and images of the artists. Key elements copied include font, album and artist names, and other song titles to advertise and draw connections between ancillary texts and albums.
2. Above is the digipack that I have created. I wanted it to link directly to my video
which I why I used shots from it. I wanted to incorporate both the memories
and the present day into it which is why I have used her on her own and with
the male actor. You can see on the right there is two digipacks that I used as
inspiration. These link back to their videos and also have a clear theme which is
something I also wanted. The CD’s seem slightly more abstract that the other
shots which I something that I did on my digipack to make it more interesting.
The Rihanna digipack shows a medium close-up of her face for the front cover
which is something that I did on my digipack.
3. Most of my inspiration for my digipack
came from the Taylor Swift advertising
poster for her RED album. I like how
the album cover was placed at the
bottom of the poster so the audience
would be able to recognise it straight
away when it came out. I also liked the
slightly transparent bar that runs along
the bottom. This links the text with the
album cover and also makes it stand
out against the background. I included
the name of the artist along with the
name of the album above it. I put it in
the same font as it is on the CD. This
creates continuity. I included the name
of her website and also the names of
other well known songs that are also
on the album. This is an advertising
technique as the audience may know
the other songs an be more inclined to
buy the album. The main image that I
used also appears on my digipack. This
creates continuity throughout my
ancillary texts.
