3. Vocabulary Journal
Students will make a journal using the Frayer
Model. They will have to define the word, use it
in a sentence, identify base word (if
applicable) and illustrate 10 words from the
above vocabulary list. The students will then
pick one word to present to the class.

5. I Have/Who Has
Each student will be provided one card. The
information on the cards will include facts,
definitions, or examples. The first person will
read a fact and someone in the classroom with
the correct answer card will have to respond.
The student will then read the fact on their
card. The game will continue until all the cards
have been completed. This game can be
played with the entire class for review.
6. I Have/Who Has Example
I have Exploration.
Who has a named used for Spanish
Explorers?
I have Conquistador.
Who has a an excursion, journey,
or voyage made for some specific
purpose, as of war or exploration.
7. Matching Game
The students will have to match the
vocabulary words to a definition, picture, or
example. Each group member will take turns
flipping two cards. If they match the words
correctly, they will receive an additional turn. If
they do not get the correct match, the next
person in the group will receive a turn. The
person with the most cards at the end of the
game is the winner.
9. Create a Short Story
The students will have to choose 8 words from
the vocabulary list. The students will then
create a short story using the words in the
correct context. They will be required to find
pictures to go along with the vocabulary
words. The students will then create a photo
story. They will then present the photo story to
the class.
10. Fill in the Blank
On the Promethean board there will be a word
bank with the appropriate vocabulary words.
There will also be sentences that will be
missing a word. The students will choose the
correct word for the sentence provided.
11. Vocabulary Bingo
Each student will be provided with a blank
bingo card. They will use each word one time
to complete the card with vocabulary words.
The teacher will then read the definition, or
example. The student who gets five places in a
row first has to read the vocabulary and
provided the definition.
