Sierra WiFi G.I.V.E. Portals
1. The Government of Sierra Leone has commissioned internet
service provider Sierra WiFi to install educational portals in
schools across the country to help students and teachers access
course tools online.
Government Interactive Virtual Education
The GIVE portal is a WiFi enabled file server created with a
platform that enables simple delivery of information helping the
learning and teaching experience for students and teachers in the
primary, junior secondary and senior secondary levels of
education in Sierra Leone.
2. How G.I.V.E. works...
Site Survey
A team of technicians acting on information from the Ministry,
will firstly visit school location to do a site survey and
feasibility study on the installation of the G.I.V.E. portal.
This study will include:
1. Accessibility
2. Floor plans
3. Availability of PCs (we wiil provide PCs if there is shortage)
4. Power and cabling

Installation
After the site survey, the Sierra WiFi team will assess
accordingly and prepare for an installation by working
closely with the school authority to help choose the best
location that would be conducive for a computer lab.

Installation
Once the Computer lab is prepared, the G.I.V.E. server is
set up to be accessible to all surrounding computers and
wireless devices.
The wireless server also comes built in with Ethernet ports
that can connect to switches for multiple computers to
access whilst maintaining the same bandwidth across.

The portal can be customized to have extra storage space
based on the the curriculum or syllabi of the school. Each
school will have access to digitized text books and also
course materials such as video, audio and images all readily
accessible.
