6. BENEFITS TO CLOUD COMPUTING
Reduced risk to data loss due to local hardware
failure
Reduced risk of data loss or theft due to local
hardware theft
Increased accessibility to staff – work
anywhere with access
Can use older hardware
Can have reduced licensing costs
7. CHALLENGES WITH CLOUD COMPUTING
Must have Broadband Internet access
4G, Fiber, Copper, or Coax
Training may be expensive
Employees may be resistant (I love my Windows
XP!)
May require improvements to local
infrastructure to ensure access
8. GOOGLE DRIVE
Part of Google Suite (Googleverse)
Mail, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts
No-cost solution for individuals
No-cost solutions available for education and
non-profit users
Relatively low-cost enterprise level
Administrative control over many settings
Who here uses this option?
9. SKYDRIVE/OFFICE 365
Genuine Microsoft Office
Low-cost individual solutions
Higher cost enterprise-level solutions
Integrated into Office 2013 VERY well
Doesn’t do multiple simultaneous editors as
well as Google Drive
Who here uses this option?

conjunction with Shiny Door and the ARC, just
over 35% of American Adults were smartphone
users
That was only two years ago

(58% of cellphone users today use a smartphone,
compared to just 42% two years ago)
15. BIG DATA AND YOUR PHONE
Location
Email
Texts
Phone Calls
Games

APPS
16. HOW TO LIMIT DATA CONSUMPTION
What do we turn
off?
When?
How do we
control this at
enterprise-level?
17. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT CONNECTION!
Can your phone be a
hotspot?
What are benefits?
What are risks?
18. APPS
Making your own vs. using an existing one
Quality of competition
Diversity of existing apps
Cost to produce
Needs your own can meet vs. what exists today
Time to produce vs. when you need it
