7. ACTIVITY 2.1
Obtain a scale leaf from an onion bulb
Using forceps, peel off transparent
epidermis from inner surface
Put a drop of water on middle of slide and
place epidermis on the water
Using mounting needle, cover the specimen
with cover slip at 45º
8. Add a drop of iodine onto one side of cover
slip
Place filter paper at opposite end
Examine slide under microscope
Draw the epidermis and label cell structure
that can be observed.

9. ACTIVITY 2.2
The inside of cheek cell is scraped with a toothpick
Cheek extract is place on slide and drop a water on it
Using mounting needle, cover the specimen with
cover slip at 45º
Add a drop of methylene blue at one end of
cover slip
10. Place filter paper at opposite end
Examine slide under microscope
Draw the epidermis and label cell structure
that can be observed.
