5. • User expectations can also be influenced by
capabilities that currently can only be
adequately offered by broadcast TV. These
capabilities include the following:
– Trick mode A playback feature in any mode other
than forward playback at the recorded speed of
the audio/video content (1x). Examples include
fast-forward, slow motion, reverse, and random
access.
– Contextual experiences across multiple screens,
which includes the ability to pause viewing on one
screen and switch to another, thus letting users
take the video experience with them on the go.
8. • The Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) is
currently working on draft ITU recommendations
for 3D video quality assessments for home
entertainment systems.
• Another initiative is by the Quality of Experience
Estimators in Networks (QuEEN) project, which is
a multi-organizational and multinational initiative
aimed at addressing issues relating to online
services such as voice, video, and IPTV.

13. 6. FACTORS INFLUENCING QOE
1. User demographics
2. Type of device
3. Content
4. Connection type
5. Media (audiovisual) quality
6. Network
7. Usability
8. Cost
14. 7. MEASUREMENTS OF QOE
• Three QoE measurement methods:
1. subjective assessment
2. objective assessment
3. end-user device analytics
15. • Subjective Assessment
1. Characterize the service
2. Design and define test matrix
3. Specify test equipment and materials
4. Identify sample population
5. Subjective methods
6. Analysis of results
16. • Objective Assessment
1. Database of subjective data
2. Preparation of objective data
3. Objective methods
4. Verification of results
5. Validation of objective model
