Posterior scalloping of vertebral bodies can occur in several genetic and metabolic conditions. Achondroplasia and neurofibromatosis can cause posterior scalloping of multiple vertebral bodies. Hurler's syndrome displays posterior scalloping along with inferior breaking of the anterior vertebral body margin. Acromegaly may also induce posterior scalloping associated with enlargement of vertebral bodies in the anteroposterior dimension.
