2. In the minds of some people this help from the Federal government had a negative effect.
They began to expect the Federal government to provide services for them all the time.
This includes help finding jobs and paying for food. With the government paying for so
many people to do so many things folks began to depend on that help just to survive.
Many social reforms, such as Social Security, were clearly needed.
Few people will deny that they were even GREATLY needed for those in desperate
conditions. However, many in the nation came to rely on them and expect the government
to provide them.
