1. âNo taxation without representation!â âGive me Liberty or give me death!â âThese are the times
that try menâs souls.â These are some of the most well-known quotes in American history and
they all came from the time of the American Revolution. This unit asks students to dig deep into
events in the years before the Revolution and determine why a large group of people would risk
imprisonment and death to rebel against their own country.
During this unit, your student will be completing the missions below to learn and practice
important material and test their understanding.
1. Describe the relationship between England and its American colonies before 1754.
2. Determine the motivations behind the French and Indian War and explain American
participation.
3. Describe how the French and Indian War changed the relationship between England and
its American colonies.
4. Identify popular arguments of patriots and loyalists and explain the motivations behind
those arguments.
5. Demonstrate your understanding of the events that led to the American Revolution.
