LOCATION
No matter where you’re from, Hotel Arista is the perfect place to stay. Our
prime I-88 location is a short drive from Chicago and allows guests to travel
conveniently to and from O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport in
approximately 30 minutes. And Naperville is home to many major national and
international corporate headquarters, all easily accessible from our front door.

ROOMS ENERGY WATER DESIGN LEED

ECO-CHIC
At Hotel Arista we have one goal: Sustainability without sacrifice. That means
that every decision we make, from how you control the lights to the coffee you
make in the morning, was made with a perfect stay, and a better planet, in mind.

Our innovative management team installed a number of imaginative “green”
programs, making us one of the region’s first LEED (“Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design”) certified hotels. In the end, we use 30% less water
and 21% less energy than the typical property. All while making guests feel like
nothing was spared.

GUEST ROOM ENVIRONMENTAL
STEWARDSHIP
• One environmentally friendly cleaning agent is used for guest room cleaning.
• We offer all guests the option to reuse their sheets and towels. This allows for
a reduced footprint. Savings is reflected in energy and water usage and less
chemical disposal. Allows for increased longevity in linen.
• The coffee for our in-room coffee makers is rainforest alliance certified coffee.
• Our guest room amenities are skin-friendly and entirely biodegradable; free of
sulfates, parabens, phthalates, artificial colors, and petrochemicals, and never
tested on animals. The formula is completely biodegradable and the tube
resin is highly recyclable HDPE.
• Dimming lights in our guest rooms increase longevity of lamps and light bulbs
and reduce our energy costs.
• Consumable paper products are used in our guest rooms. They are made up
of a 20% PCW toilet tissue and 10% PCW facial tissue.

ENERGY CONSERVATION
Throughout our hotel we have energy efficient equipment in the following areas:
• Guest Rooms
• Administrative Areas
• All HVAC equipment is controlled through a central computer system to
promote energy efficiency.
• Indoor lighting is energy efficient LED lighting with motion sensor technology.
• Property has a scheduled preventative maintenance program to optimize
energy efficiency.

DIGITAL GUEST PHONE SYSTEM
We have replaced paper guest directories with a digital version that can be
accessed through your guest room phone. This saves on the costs of paper and
ink, saves the energy used to create the directories and cuts down on potential
waste. Not a bad call.

FRESH WATER MANAGEMENT
• Our property uses water conserving fixtures:
• 2.2 gpm faucets and aerators, 1.6 gpf toilets and 2.5 gpm showerheads
• Exterior planting uses soaker hoses and plant beds are mulched to retain water.
• All guests are offered a linen reuse program.
• All clothes washers and dryers are run at the coolest effective temperature to
ensure energy efficiency.

WASTE MINIMIZATION
• We have a recycling program on premises which includes our conference
rooms, administrative areas and guest rooms.
• Our property makes purchases in bulk, avoiding the single use type products.
• Property does not purchase disposable food service items, decreasing the
amount of waste going to landfills.

Indoor environmental quality:
• Additional outdoor air ventilation to improve indoor air quality performance.
• Low emitting materials used thus reducing the quantity of odorous indoor air
contaminants, including:
• Adhesives & sealants
• Paints & coating
• Carpet systems
• Connection between indoor and outdoor spaces through introduction of
daylight and outside views into regularly occupied areas of the building.
• A design team was involved during new construction to provide capability to
receive extra points and meet Green Building Rating System Requirements.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE LEED (1 of 3)
The LEED Green Building Rating System was developed by the U.S. Green
Building Council (USGBC) and is the nationally accepted standard for
green buildings. LEED provides innovative strategies for sustainable site
development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor
environmental quality. These efforts are designed to promote both minimal
environmental impact and the health and well being of the inhabitants.

Examples of LEED, and other environmentally sound elements in Hotel Arista:

• Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) carpets and pads, sealants, paint,
and adhesives; this dramatically improves air quality.
• More than 75% of the hotel interiors capture natural daylight and have access
to outdoor views.
• State of the art, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, designed
to customize temperature by individual zones in each guest room or suite,
limiting use to specific need.
• Heating and cooling system also controlled by computerized building
management system that allows rooms to be powered down when not in use
and calibrated for specific occupancy expectations.

• Superior air quality inside the building by circulating large amounts of
outside air into the guest rooms and employing energy recovery technology
which recoups 81% of the heat from the exiting stale air. The system also
controls the moisture content in the air.
• Energy Star approved, extremely efficient windows, with Low E, a highly
reflective coating that protects interiors from infrared light. This keeps heat
inside during the winter and outside during the summer, reducing the need
for energy used for supplemental heat or cooling.
• Water conservation system: dual flush toilets, low flow water fixtures.
• Elimination of light pollution, avoiding disruption of nocturnal environment
and migratory patterns.
• 80% recycled content in the steel used throughout the building structure.
• Building materials manufactured within 500 miles of site, reducing
transportation footprint.
• Reduced particle pollution through use of off-site cutting, prefabricated walls
manufactured in an enclosed shop.
• Compact fluorescent light bulbs used in the majority of the hotel fixtures.
• 50% of construction waste was reused or recycled.

• Use of technology, such as high performance touch screen telephones and
high-definition, Energy Star-approved flat screen TV’s, wired with computer
functionality, to reduce guest paper use.
• A reduced environmental impact on the location of building site.
