• Avoids the government from becoming too

• Each branch has some control over the other.
• No branch can exercise their power without
approval from another branch

• The Supreme Court can declare laws and/or
actions of the government as unconstitutional
• Established by Marbury v. Madison
8. Limited Government
• The power of the government is limited.
• The Bill of Rights is an example of how the
government’s power is limited.
