Co-headship
• This style of co-headship is innovative. We aim
to make Newhall Park a beacon of excellence
implementing a dynamic and professional style
of leadership which, whilst not common in the
Bradford area, is positively encouraged by all of
the leading National Educational Institutions.
• We are on the journey, know exactly where we
are, where we need to go and the best way to
take our children there.
• Some things will change but all of them will be
for the benefit of the children.
Co-headship
• The role of head and deputy will be
combined between us and equally
shared.
• Both co-heads working full time.
• The 23 statutory duties of a head will
be covered – mostly in partnership.
• Accountability to be shared in terms of
official designation e.g. Ofsted.
Our vision
• To develop all aspects of school life to give
children a breadth of experiences within a
warm, secure, safe community.
• To raise attainment further and thereby
give our children enhanced life chances.
• To establish closer working links with
parents of pre- school children to ensure
the best educational start for every child
in our community.
Our vision
• To develop the communication skills of our
youngest children to ensure they are able
to access all the opportunities we are
determined to give them.
• To improve attendance rate and reduce
the number of children who are late to
school.
• To use our NCSL links to provide
continuing professional development with
initial emphasis on middle leaders, thereby
extending capacity in school.
What this means for your
children and you.
• Anything said to one of us will be shared with
the other. Whoever is available will meet with
parents and then will remain the lead
throughout. All information will be shared.
• If you have any issues please come and talk to.
If we don’t know about a concern we can’t deal
with it.
• We will be a very visible presence around school
and still be doing some teaching.
• Both of us will attend all major school events.
Curriculum outings, sports events etc. will be
shared.
What this means for school.
• We’ve lots of plans!
• We intend to involve more people in the
decision making.
• We will be ensuring that everyone is
kept informed.
• Absence – short term will be covered by
other co-head without any interruption
to school. (Prolonged would be referred
to governors).
