In 1921 the International Olympic Committee came
up a new idea: „‟The Winter Olympics‟‟.
On January 25th 1924, the first Winter Olympics
took off in style at Chamonix in the French Alps.
The first Winter Olympics were actually called “
The International Winter Sports Week”.
There was a total of 16 nations who sent athletes
to Chamonix. There was 247 men and 11 women
participating.
The first Olympics lasted 11 days and 9 sports
where played.
