Geoguessr
Geoguessr is a free game that promotes developing skills of image recognition and accessing of
world knowledge.
The game is played by guessing the location of a Google Street View image anywhere in the world
chosen at random by GeoGuesser, you could also use the filtering options that constrain the
location, to the Canada for example. Points are earned by correctly guessing the locations seen in
the Street View images. The accuracy of a guess determines the points the student earns.
Recognizing landscape features and synthesizing personal knowledge of landform types, weather,
vegetation, climate, and cultural features like building styles or languages present in signage to
identify the on-screen location.
How to play a Geoguessr game
1) Got to the website www.geoguessr.com.
2) To play, create a free account by clicking on the Create Account button.
3) After you have registered, click on the Continue button.
4) Select the game, World by clicking on the Play button.

Note: Without a paid subscription, a student can only play one game per day.

Note: At this point students can choose
between a Single player or a Challenge
game.
In this example, the Single Player game is
chosen.
6) Click on the Single player icon, and then click on the Start Game button.
Note: The Challenge game is limited to subscribers only.

7) A Street View location appears. Look around the screen for clues.
8) Click on the map icon and click on the where the place where you think this place is located.
9) After the location guess is pinned on the map, click on the Guess button.

10) The results appear. In this case the guess was bad so the learner earned only a few points.
11) The player reads the results from the guess and then clicks on the Play Next Round button.
12) A new Street View location appears. There are 5 locations in each game.

13) After the last location guess, the player clickson the View Summary button.
14) The player is awared a digital badge.
15) Click on the Continue button.
16) The final score is diplayed and an invitation to play again is displayed, but the player will have to
wait 24 hours.
