• Be confident, fair, firm and consistent
• Have high standards and expectations
• Have clear routines for all stages of lessons
• Get to know your students (names, hobbies,
interests, needs etc)
• Never say “Please”, try “You need to....., thank
you.”
• Allow for take up time
• Ignore secondary behaviours
• Offer choices – avoid the dead ends

• Find student successes elsewhere
• Work and communicate with other teachers
• Pack up early, calm exit with praise
• Have fun when dismissing, it’s their last
