Bulgogi House now open in La Palma, CA - Anaheim
restaurant
Young Park started the idea of Korean BBQ with his grandmother's sauce. Combining this sauce with
local ingredients and variety of meats, he opened Bulgogi House in 1992. Bulgogi House expanded
to two locations in Rowland Heights. On November 1, 2014, the Bulgogi House added a third
location to deliver a new kind of KBBQ to the OC. The grills use a ventilation system that sucks the
smoke from the sides of the grill keeping you from taking the BBQ scent home with you. This is a
major complaint with most KBBQ restaurants. You almost need to plan to go home after eating to
either change or take a shower. Bulgogi House also has a full-service bar serving not only Korean
favorites like soju, but international beers, wines, and libations.
Grand Opening - Exterior
OC Food Diva
The AYCE (All You Can Eat) KBBQ is setup a little different than you might be used to. The panjan,
normally part of the table setting, is part of the buffet line. All of your favorites like different types of
kimchi, mung bean noodles, rice paper, etc., are part of the cold item line as well as other favorites
like nigiri sushi, sushi rolls. There are also hot items like KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), fish cake,
tempura shrimp, and more. At the end of the line are the sweets like fruit, desserts, and ice cream.
The meats are ordered as you would expect from the server. There are 4 different priced menus for
the first-timers to more adventurous, each with more selection of meats than the previous. We
experienced the Premium menu, which is very reasonably priced at $26.99 per person.
Beef Brisket - The fat to meat ratio may vary. Tell your server in advance if you prefer slices with
less marblization. The fat renders out for a juicy, tender pieces of beef.
Pork Bulgogi
Garlic Pork Belly - The pork belly was good, but I didn't taste any garlic. I just added some of the raw
garlic slices and I was good to go.
Pork Steak
Sliced Beef Belly - If you like bacon, this is the "bacon" of a cow. It's one of my favorite cuts. The fat
renders down and resembles the meat that you would get on top of an authentic beef bowl in Japan.
It has lots of flavor and tastes great with a dip in the sesame oil and salt
Marinated Pork Chop
Abomasum
Marinated Chicken
Seasonal Vegetables
Marinated Vegetables
Seafood Tofu Soup - This is served Hot Pot-style so be careful. The soup base is medium spicy with a
great seafood flavor. Chunks of tofu and seafood add wonderful texture and flavor.
Beef Tofu Soup
Steamed Egg
Beef Bulgogi - This is slightly sweet like teriyaki. The cut of beef is meaty and has really good flavor.
Don't be afraid of gnawing the meat off the bone. The best flavor of beef comes from the bone.
Brisket Bulgogi
Boneless Finger Rib
Marinated Finger Rib
Beef Tongue - The cut we received was probably from the tip of the tongue. The slices looked like
rose petals on the plate. As they grilled, they flattened out and were as tender as could be. A dip in
the sesame oil dipping sauce gives tongue the best flavor.
Original Brisket
Large Intestine
Boneless Rib
Spicy Pork
Marinated Squid
Prime Marinated Boneless Rib
Prime Boneless Cubes
Prime Boneless Rib
Marinated Rib Eye Steak - The meat was tender and was marinated well. The flavor permeated
throughout the steak.
Flower Beef Steak
L.A. Short Rib
Spicy Baby Octopus - These little devils are seriously spicy, but so good. Sometimes spicy makes it so
good, you can't stop eating it. The tako (octopus) was a little chewy but totally expected.
Marinated Shrimp
Pork Cheek - Surprisingly, this part was extremely tender. You would think it would be a little chewy
by where it is on the animal. The flavor was also intensely porky which was onolicious.
Pork Jowl - This is from neck of the pig. It looks like bacon, but I think I like it even more than bacon.
It's fatty but the fat actually has a nice flavor and works well with the pork.
And much more...
