Beyond the EU: DORA and NIS 2 Directive's Global Impact
Microteaching use of board
1.
2. USE OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD
Writing or chalkboards are reusable
writing surface on which text or
drawings can be made.
They are widely used in schools and in
most cases what the teacher writes on
the board is what the students will put
in their notes.
They are used for points and
presentation of notes.
They require good use for quality
classroom instruction.
3. TYPES OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD
There are varieties of board, in
fact, emerging technology is widening its
scope. This presentation focuses on the
following:
Blackboard: Black wall or wooden surface on
which writing and drawings are made with
calcium sulfate (chalk – different colours).
Greenboard: Just like blackboard (but Green)
Brownboard: Just like blackboard (but brown)
Toxicity and dirt are issues on the three.
Whiteboard: White surface for projection and
writing or drawing. Drawings and writings
done using non-permanent white board
marker/pen.
4. HINTS ON USE OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD
Have a clear purpose in mind. Will what you
write provide focus for students ?
Will
they need to write it down?
Erase all unrelated materials on the board.
Things on the board will distract.
For a large board divide into two or more
sectors.
For two sectors start writing from the
left to the right and then back to the
right – no mix up.
For three or more sectors either start
from the left and move to the right or
use the middle sector(s) alone.
5. HINTS ON USE OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD (2)
Use chalk which had been sharpened
with knife or sandpaper pad.
Keep materials simple. Use the board for
points, don’t overcrowd the board.
Keep ready everything needed for board
use (chalk, ruler, marker, etc.).
Use colour for emphasis and pedagogic
purposes not for aesthetic value alone.
Check for light glare and try to avoid
the spot for such.
Keep board eraser clean and learn to
erase with straight up and down strokes.
6. HINTS ON USE OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD (4)
Structure your use of the board. You can
use headings, underlining, and different
writing styles.
If you use board to list students’
comments, do so verbatim, and change their
comments only with their consent.
Don’t erase listed points too quickly. Allow
students to think and reflect and jot down
the points.
You can integrate other media with the
chalkboard.
When mistakes are made on the board do
not just correct the mistakes, point out the
mistake and correct thereafter.
7. HINTS ON USE OF BOARD/ WRITING BOARD (3)
Use necessary templates or stencil to
trace objects on the board.
You can reveal information in stages.
Strip of paper can be fastened over
printed paper to reveal information step
by step
Write clearly and legibly, probably use
capital letters. Do not write too small.
You can use guidelines if you have
problems maintaining straight lines.
Always face the classroom when you use
the board even when you write. Learn
the skill of writing on the side
