Arrange to meet with your line manager to discuss this assignment.
■ You will need to agree on a project that will benefit the overall business, your team and you
■ Scope the project
■ Make sure the objectives are SMART
■ Agree the work can be done in two months

■ Have regular reviews with your manager to report on progress
■ Collect evidence on how you have applied your skills and knowledge

You will need to prepare a presentation using the Williams Lea Screenshow template. Your presentation should last no
longer than 20 minutes. An additional 10 minutes will be allowed for questions at the end. You must provide a
hardcopy of your presentation and any supporting handouts or preparation notes to your assessor, These will
be required by the CMI.
Prepare a presentation which should follow the structure of:
■ Overview of the project
■ Team objectives and plan for achievement (your approach)
■ Review the progress and standard of the work
■ Feedback delivered and results obtained
■ Communication and working relationship with your manager
■ Skills and knowledge used and in what context
■ Key learning points

Presented on Williams Lea template, good introduction and agenda as well as a detailed background.

Planning the project
■ Understand the team objectives and plan for achievement (2003.1)
You have demonstrated your understanding of what a SMART objective is and the benefits of this project. You
have discussed the use of responsive influencing skills to encourage Wendy to complete the objective and
offered one to one training to support. Questioning skills and active listening were also demonstrated.

Doing the project
■ Be able to monitor and review the progress and standard of the team’s work (2003.2 )
Good to see that you taught Wendy the SLII model and diagnosed her development level. You have also
demonstrated how you adapted your leadership style to suit the development level and responded to Wendy’s
concerns effectively.
