“Refuting nature’s cycles can
increase disease incidence in
mind and body. When we no
longer sleep well, follow
unhealthy diets, and engage in
practices that conflict with cues
from nature, the cells of the
mind and body can lose their
memory of healthy responses.”

2. HIGHLIGHTS
MONICA YEARWOOD: AUTHOR AND FOUNDER OF HAMSA AYURVEDA & YOGA
“Monica has a true gift of intuition. She has helped me
let go of things that years of therapy haven't made a dent
in.” Rachel Jacobs, PhD
“I have been to many different healers and practitioners
of complementary medicine. Monica is the one I keep
coming back to. She is a unique combination of
incredible depth, knowledge and expertise, intuition,
compassion, and a gentle yet powerful healing presence.”
Amy West, PhD
“When I initially met Monica I was struggling with severe
sinus/asthma. I was taking 12.5mg of prednisone and
extremely short of breath. By the time we had completed
our treatments, I was down to 5mg of prednisone
with little to no breathing issue.” – Lorianne Mehmel, RYT
“Thank you so much for the care that you provided to me
yesterday. The letting go ceremony was one of the most
powerful experiences that I have had in all my years of
therapy, meditation and other self-awareness activities.”
Sonali Nan, MD
Monica Yearwood empowers her clients with information fueled by an experiential practice. She
emphasizes awareness. Her focus is digestive health, detoxification, and life transition. She believes each
of us has an inner guide empowered intuitively that is able to determine our best course in every life
realm, such as our choices in food and relationships.
Monica’s programs integrate diet, herbology, and practices that cultivate awareness such as meditation
and yoga. Her digestive health programs work to remediate provoking factors while healing the integrity
of the intestinal tract. She runs detoxification programs out of her ayurvedic center, Hamsa Ayurveda &
Yoga, and creates home based programs.
Monica helps people move through major life transitions (e.g., pregnancy, illness, weight loss regimen,
emotional trauma, divorce, a desire to live a more meaningful life) through meditation, ceremony and
ritual. Each requires a marked degree of personal change. Monica's work empowers others to be more
vital, purposeful, and empowered, and happier. She teaches others how their experiences can facilitate
wisdom instead of bitterness and defeat.

Daily Lifestyle for Vitality
We are rhythmic beings in relationship with
nature. Our inner rhythms ("circadian rhythms")
dictate all of our physiological processes and are
influenced by nature’s cycles and our lifestyle
practices. In this workshop, Monica teaches
ayurvedic and yogic lifestyle practices that align
our individual rhythm with nature’s cycles to
maximize health and enhance longevity.
Digestion & Health
Monica Yearwood teaches how digestion
influences all states of health, contributes to
disease, and can be a powerful catalyst in disease
reversal. Digestion is the most influential bodily
process on our health. It is the epicenter of our
immune system and primary doorway through
which all nutrients and pathogens enter.
Practices for Truth-Speaking
Monica teaches that when we don’t speak our truth
and deny our emotional wounds, we can lose our
intuitive skills. In this workshop she explores the
Goddess Kali. Kali is a repository of great
compassion and yet, she is often the rejected part of
the female psyche. Unconventional at every turn,
she speaks only the truth and doesn’t soften it for the
sake of anyone’s feelings. She crushes with honesty,
putting "effective" before "gentle," and yet, she is
the ultimate mother. In this workshop, learn
practices for direct perception. Experience a
powerful meditation for accessing your inner truth
and learn mantras to dispel anger.
Diet & Lifestyle Practices for Every Season
Living with nature’s rhythm requires that we respond to seasonal changes with changes in our behavior
and lifestyle. Lifestyle practices have the power to align our individual rhythm and all of our
physiologic functions, with cyclic rhythms observed in nature. In so doing, we maintain health in body
and in mind. Many of our modern conveniences have shifted us away from our relationship with nature
and we have to intentionally find our way back. Monica explains how practices for each of the seasons
can support our rhythmic alliance with nature, maintain our immune system, and keep us strong.
Practices for Intuition
In this transformative and experiential workshop,
Monica brings attention to the words we use to
describe our story. She explains that the story of
our individual history reveals more about who
we are in the present than who we were then.
Most importantly, within the fabric of our story,
we can uncover a stoic teacher: a part of our self
that was always there as a guiding force,
attempting to point out the greater lessons of our
experience. Our focus is to develop the
relationship we have with the teacher within our
self and from our experiences to powerfully
develop our intuitive skills.

Ayurvedic Detoxification Methods
We consume through all of our senses. We eat
what we see through our eyes, hear through our
ears, and feel through our skin. Strong digestion
enables us to retain the nutrient of what we
consume and effectively expel the waist. Chronic
exposure to pollutants, low quality diet, and
sudden trauma can compromise our ability to
digest, which can lead to heightened toxicity. In
this presentation, Monica teaches daily methods
that facilitate the release of mental, physical, and
emotional toxins, and keep all facets of digestion
strong.
Ayurveda & The Fire Element
Monica teaches that fire is a primary life-giving
source. Fire is used to describe internal
physiologic processes within our body, and gains
from our spiritual practices. Symptoms of
deficient fire include inadequate digestion and
motivation, and confusion. Excess fire can
manifest as hyper-criticism, inflammation &
burning sensations. Ayurvedic and yogic
practices help us to regulate internal fire,
maximize our intellectual abilities, enhance
discernment and intuition.
Awaken Self-Reliance in Diet
We are bombarded with different dietary
philosophies and conflicting scientific
information. Monica believes that correct diet is
highly individualized and determined by genetics,
lineage, digestive strength, and other factors.
Despite the variances that can be found between
individuals, there are distinct markers that enable
us to determine if we are on the right track. In this
presentation, Monica teaches how to recognize
the patterns of correct and incorrect diet within
the body and mind in order to awaken self-reliance.
10-Day Detox (Created By Season)
Ayurveda teaches that there are specific
detoxification practices that should be done
during the course of a year in order to maximize
our immune system, regulate our metabolism, and
enhance our vitality. We can optimize natural
periods of purification that present themselves
during each season through our behavior and
specific ayurvedic detoxification methods. In this
workshop, Monica teaches how to perform a safe
home based detoxification program rooted in
ayurvedic medicine.
Workshop Duration & Structure
Monica offers single sessions and multiple daylong programs. Single sessions are typically 2-hours in
length and include 90-minutes of lecture and body/mind discipline, followed by 30-minutes of Q&A.
Multiple daylong programs can be constructed over consecutive days, and weekend and weeklong
retreats. Multiple daylong programs can be constructed for the venue and audience and incorporate a
diversity of topics under a theme, or a concentrated single topic. Contact us for more details.
