Documentation is a set of documents provided on
paper, or online, or on digital media, such as audio
tape or CDs.
An approved instruction either in paper or electronic
form which guides about how an activity shall be
executed.
Examples are user guides, documentation in health
care , on-line help, thesis writing .
It is becoming less common to see paper (hard-
copy) documentation.
Documentation is distributed via websites, software
products, and other on-line applications
3. RECORD KEEPING
The activity of organizing and storing all
the documents, files, invoices, etc. relating to a
company's or organization's activities.
A record is often considered as document.
Records provide evidence that activities have
been performed or results have been achieved.
They always document the past.

A document can be a procedure,
specification, drawing, work instruction and
the record is also a document with the
difference that it provides evidence of
compliance with established requirements
and effectiveness of the operation of QMS
