2. INTRODUCTION
Hashtags have long been an important tool on Twitter for helping users
organize and sort their tweets.
They're a great way to indicate that your content is relevant to a certain
topic and to get your tweets in front of an interested audience
A hashtag is a word or keyword phrase preceded by a hash, also known as the
pound sign (#).
It's used within a post on social media to help those who may be interested in
your topic to be able to find it when they search for a keyword or particular
hashtag.
3. IMPORTANCE OF HASHTAGS
The hashtag is not a new trend on social media anymore. However, if you’re
new to the social world hashtags are something to get familiar with.
You may think the pound sign (#) is only meant to be used when you check
your voicemail, but it actually has a completely different meaning when it
comes to social media: meet the hashtag
Hashtags play a crucial role in developing interest in your social media
accounts and are used on a number of social media platforms, most
commonly, Twitter and Instagram.
Including a hashtag with your posts helps to categorize content for your
audience.
4. USING HASHTAGS TO CATEGORIZE TWEETS
BY KEYWORD
•Clicking or tapping on a hashtagged word in any message shows you other Tweets that include that
hashtag.
•Hashtags can be included anywhere in a Tweet.
•Hashtagged words that become very popular are often trending topics
•People use the hashtag symbol (#) before a relevant keyword or phrase in their Tweet to categorize
those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter search.
5. TIPS FOR USING HASHTAGS
You cannot add spaces or punctuation in a hashtag, or it will not work
properly.
If you Tweet with a hashtag on a public account, anyone who does a search
for that hashtag may find your Tweet.
We recommend using no more than 2 hashtags per Tweet as best practice, but
you may use as many hashtags in a Tweet as you like.
Type a hashtagged keyword in the search bar to discover content and
accounts based on your interests.
