2. Introduction
• Welcome to the first Mobiletech pulse report. Mobiletech pulse is report
designed to highlight the trends in the mobile web. Its mostly based on data
from Scandinavia, but we believe that readers will find this information equally in
most mobile markets around the world.
• Highlights: 40% of internet traffic to iPhone is originating from WLAN – it
illustrates the trend of people using their mobile to surf the web even when a
laptop or PC might be hand.
• iPhone continues to be the standout device for mobile internet traffic. If you
include the iPhone application traffic ,it accounts for half of all mobile internet
traffic (i.e. excluding mobile broadband). The combination of an iPhone app and
an iPhone optimised mobile site seems to have a positive impact on traffic.
• 10pm seems to be the golden hour for mobile internet browsing.
• iPhone has an average of 4.2 page views per session as opposed to non iPhone’s
with a page view of 3.6
• Tabloid online newspapers and TV broadcasters dominate mobile web browsing
statistics in Norway. With VG leading the charge with 131,000 unique weekly
visitors with a 31% increase from February to June 2009
• In thirteen weeks, Norwegian mobile internet has grown 28%. For the top 12
sites in Norway.
