Matthijs Leendertse gave a presentation on the future of learning at the EBU conference in Luzern, Switzerland. He discussed how learning will become more personalized through individual learning paths and continuous assessment. Technology will play a larger role in learning through personalized and interactive content, simulations, and helping with assessment. Public service media needs to provide learning content where and when users want through new interactive formats, be present for all segments of society, and embrace open resources while focusing on quality and public trust.

Some final remarks
! Focus on your core strengths while building new content: (didactical)
quality, brand, public trust, long experience.
! Redefine ‘public’ in an environment where a myriad of suppliers
offers (free) digital educational content.
! Don’t be afraid to share and embrace open educational resources,
especially as public service media.
