About This Chapter

                    6.1 H.248 Application Statistics
This task is used to measure H.248 messages, transactions, and commands transmitted between
the CMU and the MGC. The measure object is the VMGW.
                    6.2 Context Management Statistics
This task is used to measure context handling conditions of the MGW under the control of the
MGC. The measure object is the VMGW.
6.3 Number of Terminations Occupied by Context
This task is used to measure termination occupation in the MGW under the control of the MGC.
The terminations include IP terminations, ATM terminations, and TDM terminations. The
                    measure object is the VMGW.
6.4 Number of Resources Occupied by Context of the CMU Board
This task is used to measure the resource usage of the MGW under the control of the MGC. The
resources refer to the channels used for codec conversion, rate adaptation, announcement, audio
mixing, echo cancellation, and channels used by data services. These channels include the
transcoder (TC), echo cancellation (EC), and audio mixing resources. The measure object is the
                    VMGW.
                    6.5 Conference Call Statistics
This task is used to count successful conference calls. The measure object is the VMGW.
                    6.6 Voice Call Statistics
This task is used to measure resource features of the MGW. The measure object is the VMGW.

6.1.1 Number of Received Message

Description
This item refers to the number of H.248 messages that are received by a specific VMGW from
the MGC. The item is counted by the application layer of the CMU, after the H.248 protocol
stack successfully decodes the received messages.

Unit
                    None

Measurement Point
The item is measured after the H.248 protocol stack successfully decodes the messages received
by the MGW from the MGC. Refer to Figure 6-1.

6.1.14 Number of Sent SERVICECHANGE Response

Description
l The SERVICECHANGE command is a service change command. After receiving this
command, the MGW performs service change as specified in the request. The change can
be that the MGC requires the MGW to exit from the service or to register with another
MGC. The MGW sends the response to the MGC after processing the request.
l This item refers to the number of responses to the H.248 SERVICECHANGE command,
which are sent by the VMGW to the MGC.

Description
This item refers to the number of failures in processing the AUDITVALUE requests. The item
                    is counted by the MGW.
The MGC obtains information of the MGW or terminations through AUDITVALUE requests.
If the requests are incorrect or the MGW fails to process the requests, the MGW returns error
                    responses.

6.1.36 Number of SERVICECHANGE Request Err Process Times

Description
This item refers to the number of failures in processing the SERVICECHANGE requests. The
item is counted by the MGW.

The MGC requires the MGW to process service change by sending the SERVICECHANGE
requests to the MGW. If the requests are incorrect or the MGW fails to process the requests, the
                   MGW returns error responses.

6.2.1 Total of Contexts Created Newly
Description
This item refers to the total number of contexts established by the VMGW under the control of
                    the MSC server.

Unit
                    None

Measurement Point
The item is measured when the VMGW generates a new context under the control of the MSC
server. The statistics can be used to estimate the status of call connections.
When the VMGW receives an H.248 ADD or MOVE message for a context, a new context is
created. In this case, the value of this item is added. Refer to Figure 6-43.

Description

under the control of the MSC server. Due to the limited VMGW resources, some contexts may
fail to be established. Thus, call establishment may fail.

Measurement Point
The item is measured when the VMGW releases a created context under the control of an MSC
server. The statistics can be used to estimate the status of call release.

When the VMGW deletes the last termination of session C1, C1 is deleted and a new context is
created. In this case, the value of this item is added by one. Refer to Figure 6-44.

6.2.3 Total Duration

Description
This item refers to the time length from the establishment to release of contexts.

Unit
                   Second

Measurement Point
The VMGW releases a created context under the control of an MSC server. The CMU counts
the duration occupied by the context when the context is released, and adds the duration to the
value of this item. The statistics can be used to count the total duration of calls.

When the VMGW creates a context after receiving the ADD request from the MGC, the context
creating time (point A in the following figure) is recorded. When the context is released, the
total duration occupied by the context can be obtained. Refer to Figure 6-45.

The total duration refers to sum of duration of each context.

Description
This item refers to the maximum number of contexts in a measurement period.

Unit
                    None

Measurement Point
The MGW generates or releases a context under the control of the MSC server. The CMU updates
the number of contexts when generating or releasing a context. The MGW counts the maximum
number of current contexts in the measurement period. The statistics can be used to estimate the
                    status of the current calls.

6.2.15 Number of Contexts with Call Loss
Description
This item refers to the number of contexts where the call establishment fails due to certain
reasons, among the contexts generated by the VMGW under the control of the MGC.

Unit
                   None

Measurement Point
The VMGW generates contexts under the control of the MSC server. For contexts where the
call establishment fails due to certain reasons, the CMU releases these contexts and adds the
number of contexts with call loss. The statistic can be used to estimate the call loss status.

IP, TDM-TDM, TDM–IP, IP-IP, VIG and MPTY contexts, successfully established by the
VMGW under the control of the MGC. This item refers to contexts with only one termination
                    and used for auditing.

Unit
