1. JENIS MODEL PENGAJARAN : Model Pemprosesan Maklumat.
Mereka hanya
mempelajari apa yang patut dipelajari sahaja.
2. Class : 3 Naim
Time : 10.10am – 11.10am (60 minutes)
Objective :
At the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to identify different nets that can be used
to form a model of cube at least 6 from 8 questions in the worksheet given
Prerequisite knowledge:
Pupils are able to identify the name of 2-D shapes and 3-D shapes
Strategy : Using a model, inquiry activity
Set induction (5 minutes): Colgate box is shown to pupils. Teacher asks pupils how the
box is built. Teachers cut the box and show the nets of the box
STEP CONTENT LEARNING ACTIVITIES REMARKS
1 Find different i. Pupils are divided into 6
(10 minutes) nets of cube
groups.
ii. Each group will be given
three models of cubes
iii. Pupils need to identify
the characteristics of
cube
iv. Next, they are required to
cut their desired lines of
the box to open the cube
in different ways as
possible
v. Ask pupils to count how
many edges need to be
cut to open a cube
Step 2 Comparing and i. Pupils show the nets that
3. (10 minutes) discussing they obtain
ii. Ask pupils what are the
similarities between all
nets
iii. Help students to discover
the common properties of:
- Each net has six faces.
- Six faces are connected
with five edges.
- Seven edges should be cut
to open a cube and to make
a net
Example of nets
Step 3 Select the real i. In groups, pupils are
(10 minutes) nets of cubes given a worksheet
showing many
different nets for
making a cube but not
all can form a
cube(refer to
4. worksheet 1)
ii. They are required to
study the nets given
and circle those that
they think can form a
cube
iii. Teacher encourage
pupils to check the
answer by cutting out
the nets and try to
form cubes from
these
Teacher emphasizes that there
are some nets which have six
squares but cannot be folded to
form a cube
For example :
This net with six faces arranged
3 by 2 when attached together
cannot be folded to form a cube
Step 4 Construct In groups, pupils need to draw
(10 minutes) another nets the other possible nets that can
form a cube.
Evaluation Worksheet i)Pupils describe the
(10 minutes) (identify characteristics of a cube
features and
ii)Pupils identify different nets of
nets of cube
5. shapes) cubes
Closure Teacher emphasizes the whole
(5 minutes) topics
-There are ’35 different’ ways of
joining 6 squares together, edge
to edge and of these only 11
may be made up into cubes.
-Each net of cube has six faces.
Six faces are connected by five
edges. Seven edges should be
cut to open a cube and to make
a net.
- Five edges must remain
attached in order to make a
cube turn into a two-
dimensional pattern from a
cube.
Worksheet 1
There are several nets of cubes above. But not all the nets given can form cubes with no faces
overlapping. Circle those that you think can be used for a cube. Be careful!
