to play a major role.

involving Israel.
We often revisit Ezekiel 38 and 39,
where we find some of the most obvious
allusions to contemporary conditions in
the entire Bible. The invasion from the
north is mentioned in many Old Testament
prophecies, but only in Ezekiel do we find
the names of specific nations destined to
be involved in the battle.

What we are about to review is purport-
ed to be an expanded version of what we
saw in chapter 33, namely
the journeys of the Sun
and Moon across the sky
over the course of a year.
Though I am comfortable
with Enoch’s authorship
in chapter 33, I have res-
ervations about the au-
thenticity of the Book of the Luminaries. It
contains some descriptions about the Sun
and Moon that early mankind could sim-
ply have made through observation, yet
lacks a proper explanation of the true sci-
ence behind the movements of the Earth
around the Sun and the movements of the
Moon around the Earth. As we proceed,
I shall attempt to point out these contra-
dictions. As we get to them, you will un-
derstand why I believe that at least part of
the Book of the Luminaries could contain
corrupted text. Some scholars suggest that
Enoch was the author, but that, over the
centuries, others have added interpolations
to the original text, thus creating the prob-

A recent discovery causes us to think
once again about the glory of God.
Christians of every creed and belief are
unified on at least one point: God is glori-
ous in appearance. Each time He has al-
lowed Himself to be seen, the recipient of
His grace has struggled to describe Him
in human terms. Perhaps the best remem-
bered of His personal appearances was to

God’s response is a Bible classic:

shew me thy glory.

ness pass before thee, and I will proclaim
the name of the LORD before thee; and

cious, and will shew mercy on whom I will
shew mercy.
