Web Site Deployment Instruction<br />Scope<br />This document describes the process, tools and configurations of Federated Database Console deployment. But it is not restricted to this project only. For automated deployment script please refer to http://www.cnblogs.com/misaxi/archive/2011/03/18/automated-deployment-for-websites-and-web-services.html<br />Deployment Process Overview<br />Project Configuration<br />Create New Configuration<br />Create QA1 and QA2 for deploying package to two application server. And this is also applied to following configurations.<br />Add Config Transforms<br />Execute the same action on FederatedDBService project.<br />Then, we will get a Web.QA.config for QA configuration we created previously.<br />Change DB Connection Strings<br />Specify connectionStrings In Web.QA.config for both Home and FederatedDBService projects. The configuration set here will replace the configuration in Web.config if the project has been built because the attribute specified is xdt:Transform=quot;

. Basically, the only change is the value of Data Source of each connection string (e.g. Data Source=CNSHN13DB02V01).<br />Configure Package/Publish Web<br />,[object Object]

Configure parameters in the Package/Publish Web section as following

FederatedDBService should be Default Web Site/FDBServiceDeployment<br />Before Deployment<br />,[object Object]

Enable PowerShell remoting on target servers

Install MSDeploy 1.0 on target servers ( HYPERLINK "file:///Cnshn13db04vshare_sdcMike%20HeWebDeploy_x86_en-US.msi" MSDeploy 1.0 Installer x86)

In 2014 we had to do a major overhaul of ArangoDB's database engine,because we wanted to introduce a write-ahead log. Since for a database this change is similar in nature to the proverbial open-heart surgery for humans, it was clear from day one that this would be a difficult endeavour with a lot of risk to break things. Rather fundamental changes were needed in nearly all places of the kernel code and it seemedimpossible to serialise the work to keep the system in a working state. As usual, time was at a premium, since the next major release had to go out of the door in 2 months time. In this talk I will tell the story of this overhaul, explain the role of unit tests and continuous integration and describe the challenges we faced and how finally overcame them.

Learn more about accelerating Cloud Migration: https://www.castsoftware.com/use-cases/cloud-readiness-and-migration A joint team from CAST and Microsoft worked to define rules that assess the ability of an existing codebase to migrate to Microsoft Azure. The team then integrated the rules into CAST Highlight and moved the solution itself to Azure. In this report, we describe the process and what we did before, during, and after the hackfest, including the following: • How we produced the rules that assess the ability to migrate to Azure • How we benchmarked the rules • How we migrated the CAST Highlight service to Azure • What the architecture looked like and future plans • Learnings from the process Our first objective was to define rules that assess the ability of applications to migrate to Azure and integrate those rules into CAST Highlight. This was the more-complex task for our team. Our second objective was to move the existing application to Azure, thus profiting from App Service features such as auto-scaling and deployment slots. The existing application is a Java web app running on Apache Tomcat and using PostgreSQL as its database. This is a frequent scenario for web applications running in Azure, so we did not anticipate having any issues with this task.
