7. ...we know where we live.
There was just a waste land with seven villages. The church was built in
the middle of these seven villages by the king Steven I., 1 000 years ago.
This territory was called the Kingdom of Uhorsko.
This is GEMER – our region now.
The big village which was made from those seven villages people called
Štefanová, according to Steven I.
Štefanová had a visit in 1335. It was the king Karol Róbert. He liked this
Village and gave it urban rights and called it Rimavská Sobota.
The second important and big visit was the king Žigmund Luxemburg who
Stayed a few right in this town and because he liked it, he gave the coat –
-of – arms, black eagle for Rimavská Sobota.
