The boss
Unnamed hit man
There are two main characters in our Film Noir inspired thriller.
Character one
Name- The Boss
This character doesn’t have a ‘name’ the character has a job title. This has been
done so that the audience can see this man as superior- he isn’t known as a
friendly person he is named as ‘the boss’ this shows his importance of his job
title.
Age- 50
We have chosen to make the boss this age, as it seems appropriate for his job
title. If the boss was younger I do not think that he will be seen as superior and it
wouldn’t show importance- the ‘hit man’ in the film will respect the boss more as
he is older. The ‘hit man’ is also younger, by making the boss older it also may
appear to a wider age group, as it doesn’t focus on the younger generation.
Appearance- Grey hair, smartly dressed- upper class
This appearance will make The Boss look like a successful businessman. Like his
age and the name, this will add to his superior title. The grey hair will be
achieved with a grey hair spray- making the young actor look much older than he
is. This will be combed into the side of his hair. The suit will show the
importance of his job.
Motivation- Power, Money, Women
The motivation of The Boss hiring a hit man is because The Boss wants all the
power he can get – without any problems. The killing of this person will get rid of
these problems.
Character two
Name- Unnamed Hit man
This character again does not have a name. This is because the Hit man is very
mysterious and is not ‘well known’. The Hit man’s job fits the reason why he has
not got a name- as he has to be mysterious and ‘in the background’.
Age- 38
This age has been chosen as the Hit man is experienced and our group has
decided that this is the best age to show that the Hit man is experienced and he is
also able to be physically able to carry out the job successfully.
2. Appearance- Young look, muscly, brown hair, smart casual attire
The appearance has been chosen as it fits the job description of the Hit man. We
have decided to choose an actor who has a mesomorph physique so he looks like
he can carry out physical tasks that the job will ask. The smart causal attire will
make the character look not as serious as The Boss, showing the audience that
The Boss has more power.
Motivation- Cynical outlook on life
The Hit man ignores morals and feelings, this makes it easy for him to complete
the tasks he is set. He has fixed views which again help him carry out tasks
quickly with no guilt or feelings.
