The Sound of Music is a musical film from 1965 that tells the story of Maria, a young Austrian woman studying to become a nun in Salzburg in 1938. She is sent to the villa of a retired naval officer and widower, Captain von Trapp, to be governess to his seven children. Maria brings music and joy back into the household but eventually falls in love with the Captain, just as Nazi Germany annexes Austria.
