LiveU is a pioneer in portable video-over-cellular technology, addressing all demands for full HD or SD
quality, resiliency, availability, mobility and sub-second latency in a highly innovative technological
solution. Our core technology is based on cutting-edge adaptive algorithms which combine cellular
communications and video encoding.

LiveU holds the patent (US Patent No: 7,948,933) for its Remote Transmission System.

The LiveU solution bonds up to 14 cellular (3G/4G – LTE/WiMAX) modems over multiple carriers, as
well as multiple LAN and even BGAN satellite connections. This creates a reliable, broadband video
uplink pipe over multiple narrow-band pipes. Using any camera, the fully-integrated self-powered
compact unit provides video resolution ranging from CIF through D1 (SD) and up to 1080i HD. The
bonded 3G/4G solution aggregates all data connections simultaneously to achieve high bandwidth
and smooth transmission, even as bandwidth and signal levels change across the different
connections.
LiveU was the first company to integrate 4G LTE links into its cellular-bonding solutions. Since
September 2010, LiveU mobile transmission solutions have been deployed in several commercial LTE
networks, such as in Scandinavia and the US. While single modem video delivery devices might suffer
from performance fluctuations, loss of transmission or inability to go live, LiveU's multi-link solutions
allow broadcasters and online video professionals to enjoy the benefits of both the 4G and 3G worlds.
LiveU's solutions are considered to be a viable alternative to costly satellite uplink or portable satellite
TV equipment.
LiveU's video uplink systems meet US and EU cellular health-related standards (i.e. SARs - Specific
Absorption Rates). For more details, please contact us.
No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. uses first Dutch LU40 to
stream live video from anywhere in the World!

During this years’ IBC in Amsterdam, LiveU announced a complete new product range of live video
uplink solutions with the LU light series that contains smartphone-, tablet- and laptop applications.
Earlier this year the LU70 was already introduced by LiveU as the successor of the popular LU60. This
introduction was accompanied by the completely new and simplified, but nevertheless very effective,
LU40.

When No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. was looking for a reliable, broadcast quality solution that
is able to handle harsh network conditions to support their wordwide live video streaming services,
they tested the LU40 during Ultra Music Dance Festival from Seoul, Korea - together with LiveU’s
Dutch Distributor Heynen. After this extensive test No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. concluded
that the LU40 was exactly what they are looking for, praising the high quality video transmissions that
are made possible thanks to LiveU’s adaptive bit rate technology and unique error correction
mechanisms.

This all led NOMOBO into being the first Dutch company to adapt the LU40 platform. And with
success, as it already gave them the possibility to support some prestigious projects including the Vrij
Festival event during Amsterdam Dance Event where acts as Junkie XL, Pretty Lights, Yonder Boy
and Eelke Kleijn were streamed live to the Samsung Galaxy branded YouTube channel.

In addition to this NOMOBO is also responsible for the live video streams that the Dutch soccer
federation (KNVB) publishes on YouTube and Ustream. But with the LU40, NOMOBO can also
accommodate interviews, (product) presentations, seminars, concerts, sport and music events and
many of these are already planned for the upcoming months.

No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. is a young innovative company that is founded and managed by
Constantijn van Duren, Jeroen Bos en Robert Buisman. This team of experienced producers has a
huge amount of expertise and considerable reputation in the field of online television and broadcast
production. In addition to services such as video production, media distribution and channel
development the NOMOBO team are true experts in creating high quality live streaming events for
organizations and brands.

Heynen works as distributor and system integrator with first class vendors of professional media
processing tools such as digital mixing consoles, audio and video codecs and broadcast LCD screens
to support broadcasters in the BeNeLux region.

LiveU is a pioneer in portable video-over-cellular technology, addressing all demands for full HD or SD quality,
resiliency, availability, mobility and sub-second latency in a highly innovative technological solution. Our core
technology is based on cutting-edge adaptive algorithms which combine cellular communications and video

LiveU was the first company to integrate 4G LTE links into its cellular-bonding solutions. Since September 2010,

benefits of both the 4G and 3G worlds.

High Quality Video Transmission
LiveU has developed several advanced proprietary algorithms that enable resilient high quality video transmission
over the ever-fluctuating multiple cellular networks. Among these are:

• Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) of the H.264 video encoder.
This mechanism adapts the video encoding rate continuously according to the changing network conditions.
Taking into considerations the continuous real-time measurements of the performance of every available link, the
user’s resolution and latency requirements, cellular channel behavior and other parameters, ABR reduces or
increases the H.264 video encoding rate. The result: a real time video rate adaptation mechanism that optimizes
the encoding process on-the-fly.

• Error handling mechanisms:
In wireless and cellular environments, packet loss and errors are common inherent phenomena. LiveU has been
developing proprietary error-handling mechanisms specifically adapted to these phenomena and to the unique
paradigm of aggregation of multiple links. Adaptive and predictive Forward Error Correction (FEC), Error
Concealment and Error Recovery mechanisms at the video application level complement each other and are
employed as needed for each specific operation conditions.

LiveU provides sub-second latency for interviews and highly resilient profiles for live transmission from fast-
moving vehicles (cars, trains, motorcycles, boats, and even helicopters). We also offer high-speed File Transfer
mode (FTP) over the aggregated bandwidth.

NEWS RELEASE

LiveU Expands Product Portfolio to Include Mobile App and Laptop
            Bonded Live Video Transmission Solutions

Unveils its LiveU Total™ platform, a unified management platform, supporting multiple
                                  workflows via a single server

IBC2012, RAI Amsterdam (Stand No. 14.365), Sept. 4th, 2012 – LiveU (www.liveu.tv), the
leader in portable HD video-over-cellular solutions, has expanded its live video portfolio to offer
customers a complete, end-to-end transmission solution, adding laptop and mobile apps to its
flagship LU70 backpack and handheld LU40 uplink solutions. At the same time, LiveU unveiled
LiveU Total™, its unified management platform enabling control rooms to manage multiple
video feeds from LiveU units operating in different locations. The LiveU Total platform
seamlessly supports the full spectrum of LiveU’s product portfolio within a single ecosystem.

Samuel Wasserman, LiveU’s CEO, said, “Our extended portfolio reflects the changing way live
video is being acquired in the field. Customers now have an even wider range of options for
their teams covering breaking news and events, at any time, using multiple devices to transmit
video back to the studio. This can range from reporters and producers on news teams using
their own smartphones and laptops to professional camera operators on location. All products
are based on LiveU’s fourth generation high-quality and resilient bonded uplink technology.”

Wasserman continued, “Our aim is to enable our customers to deal with live content coming into
the control room from different locations, via multiple devices, in the most professional and
simple way. Using LiveU’s Total platform for a smooth workflow configuration, operators can
deliver a more dynamic live video experience to their TV and online viewers”.

The LU-Smart Mobile App Solution brings bonded transmission to mobile phones and tablets,
increasing overall bandwidth by combining Wi-Fi and cellular networks to reach optimal video
quality. For example, operators can combine cellular and Wi-Fi to support connection to an
external MiFi, enabling the bonding of two cellular connections in a single smartphone. In this
way, users can bond the phones’ internal 4G with external 4G for a very fast uplink.

The LU-Lite Solution offers fast, reliable and high-quality cellular-bonded transmission via the
laptop, using multiple modems. This solution serves a wide variety of applications and
workflows in the field, including live transmission, editing, file transfer and store and forward as
well as live interviews using the laptop webcam.
Both LU-Smart and LU-Lite are incorporated into the LiveU ecosystem by the LiveU Total
platform.

LiveU’s unified platform uses a single server and remote management dashboard to control all
the devices from one place via the web. Operators can easily combine different live feeds and
switch between field-operated or studio-controlled transmission.

LiveU will be demonstrating its complete range of live video transmission solutions at
IBC2012, Connected World, Stand No. 14.365 (Hall 14). The stand will be hosting a live
studio, produced by The Next Web and powered by LiveU technology.

LiveU is a finalist in the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards 2012: Technology Breakthrough of
the Year and New CDN Networks & Service Delivery Technologies.

Live U Solutions

  • 1. Heynen works for innovators
  • 3. Heynen works for innovators. We supply solutions in the field of professional electronics in the Benelux countries. Based on the product platforms of the top class suppliers we work with, we supply advice on the best solution for your application. We have a strong technical background and understand your field of work. Our professional services are essential to the solutions we market. For more info on our products and solutions please contact us. LiveU is a pioneer in portable video-over-cellular technology, addressing all demands for full HD or SD quality, resiliency, availability, mobility and sub-second latency in a highly innovative technological solution. Our core technology is based on cutting-edge adaptive algorithms which combine cellular communications and video encoding. LiveU holds the patent (US Patent No: 7,948,933) for its Remote Transmission System. The LiveU solution bonds up to 14 cellular (3G/4G – LTE/WiMAX) modems over multiple carriers, as well as multiple LAN and even BGAN satellite connections. This creates a reliable, broadband video uplink pipe over multiple narrow-band pipes. Using any camera, the fully-integrated self-powered compact unit provides video resolution ranging from CIF through D1 (SD) and up to 1080i HD. The bonded 3G/4G solution aggregates all data connections simultaneously to achieve high bandwidth and smooth transmission, even as bandwidth and signal levels change across the different connections. • 4. No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. uses first Dutch LU40 to stream live video from anywhere in the World! During this years’ IBC in Amsterdam, LiveU announced a complete new product range of live video uplink solutions with the LU light series that contains smartphone-, tablet- and laptop applications. Earlier this year the LU70 was already introduced by LiveU as the successor of the popular LU60. This introduction was accompanied by the completely new and simplified, but nevertheless very effective, LU40. When No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. was looking for a reliable, broadcast quality solution that is able to handle harsh network conditions to support their wordwide live video streaming services, they tested the LU40 during Ultra Music Dance Festival from Seoul, Korea - together with LiveU’s Dutch Distributor Heynen. After this extensive test No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. concluded that the LU40 was exactly what they are looking for, praising the high quality video transmissions that are made possible thanks to LiveU’s adaptive bit rate technology and unique error correction mechanisms. This all led NOMOBO into being the first Dutch company to adapt the LU40 platform. And with success, as it already gave them the possibility to support some prestigious projects including the Vrij Festival event during Amsterdam Dance Event where acts as Junkie XL, Pretty Lights, Yonder Boy and Eelke Kleijn were streamed live to the Samsung Galaxy branded YouTube channel. In addition to this NOMOBO is also responsible for the live video streams that the Dutch soccer federation (KNVB) publishes on YouTube and Ustream. But with the LU40, NOMOBO can also accommodate interviews, (product) presentations, seminars, concerts, sport and music events and many of these are already planned for the upcoming months. No More Boundaries | NOMOBO B.V. is a young innovative company that is founded and managed by Constantijn van Duren, Jeroen Bos en Robert Buisman. This team of experienced producers has a huge amount of expertise and considerable reputation in the field of online television and broadcast production. In addition to services such as video production, media distribution and channel development the NOMOBO team are true experts in creating high quality live streaming events for organizations and brands. • 5. LiveU techniek LiveU is a pioneer in portable video-over-cellular technology, addressing all demands for full HD or SD quality, resiliency, availability, mobility and sub-second latency in a highly innovative technological solution. Our core technology is based on cutting-edge adaptive algorithms which combine cellular communications and video encoding. LiveU was the first company to integrate 4G LTE links into its cellular-bonding solutions. Since September 2010, LiveU LTE solutions have been deployed in several commercial LTE networks, such as in Scandinavia and the US. While single modem video delivery devices might suffer from performance fluctuations, loss of transmission or inability to go live, LiveU's multi-link solutions allow broadcasters and online video professionals to enjoy the benefits of both the 4G and 3G worlds. High Quality Video Transmission LiveU has developed several advanced proprietary algorithms that enable resilient high quality video transmission over the ever-fluctuating multiple cellular networks. Among these are: • Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) of the H.264 video encoder. This mechanism adapts the video encoding rate continuously according to the changing network conditions. Taking into considerations the continuous real-time measurements of the performance of every available link, the user’s resolution and latency requirements, cellular channel behavior and other parameters, ABR reduces or increases the H.264 video encoding rate. The result: a real time video rate adaptation mechanism that optimizes the encoding process on-the-fly. • Error handling mechanisms: In wireless and cellular environments, packet loss and errors are common inherent phenomena. LiveU has been developing proprietary error-handling mechanisms specifically adapted to these phenomena and to the unique paradigm of aggregation of multiple links. Adaptive and predictive Forward Error Correction (FEC), Error Concealment and Error Recovery mechanisms at the video application level complement each other and are employed as needed for each specific operation conditions. LiveU provides sub-second latency for interviews and highly resilient profiles for live transmission from fast- moving vehicles (cars, trains, motorcycles, boats, and even helicopters). We also offer high-speed File Transfer mode (FTP) over the aggregated bandwidth.
