3. RIM Programme Support (2)
• RIM1 Technical Synthesis – preliminary analysis:
– Survey across HEIs (Imperial College project) revealed:
• Fragmentation, lack of maturity, lack of homogeneity
• Care needed if linked with performance management
– Pilot implementations within smaller groups demonstrated the value of CERIF to
unify RIM data requirements
• Integrating RIM with an institution's existing business processes (BRIM), e.g.
on bidding and output repository
• Mapping different institutional systems to CERIF-XML (CRISPool)
• Integrate a wider range of data types (Enquire)
– Broadly positive results …
– Some other points:
• Need to think about broader range of research ‘outputs’ (UCL/BL project)
• How to embed RIM principles in researcher workflows (UC/BL project)
• Roles of internal and external drivers (Imperial College project, Enquire)
