 We can use if and when with similar meaning

4. FIRST CONDITIONAL
FORM
If +PRESENT SIMPLE, FUTURE
If it’s hot tomorrow, we’ll go to the beach
FUTURE If +PRESENT SIMPLE
We’ll go to the beach if it’s hot tomorrow

5. FIRST CONDITIONAL
USE
 To talk about something that is going to happen in
the future. It is very possible.
 In the second clause we can use: will, shall, be going
to, imperative, future continuous, future perfect, and
the modals can, could, may, might, should, ought to,
must.

6. SECOND CONDITIONAL
FORM
If PAST SIMPLE, WOULD+INFINITIVE
If she changed her job, she would be happier
WOULD + INFINITIVE If PAST SIMPLE
She would be happier if she changed her job

7. SECOND CONDITIONAL
USE
 To talk about the present when the event in the if-
clause is not true. (hypothetical situations)
 To talk about the future when the event in the if-
clause is unlikely to happen. (situations that are
difficult to happen)

8. THIRD CONDITIONAL
FORM
If PAST PERFECT, WOULD+PERFECT INFINITIVE
If she had come earlier, she would have got the bus
WOULD + PERFECT INFINITIVE If PAST PERFECT
She would have got the bus if she had come earlier

9. THIRD CONDITIONAL
USE
 It refers to the past, a past situation that didn’t take
place, never happened

10. MIXED CONDITIONALS
