Melissa Stoudemayer has volunteered for a variety of organizations since high school, where she was a member of the school's service society that required a minimum of 150 hours of volunteer service beginning in freshman year. As a youth in Charlotte, North Carolina, she worked with Habitat for Humanity to raise money and construct houses for low-income families. Melissa Stoudemayer also helped animal rights' groups and shelters to find homes for animals and ensured that owners were trained to take care of their new pets.
